The Toyota Vios 1.5 G Makes A Comeback A Week After It Was Discontinued (Sort Of)

It looks like Automotive Jesus just performed a miracle: the Toyota Vios 1.5 G is back from the dead.

To recall, on July 1, Toyota Motor Philippines updated its official website and price list removing the Vios 1.5 G from the line-up. As such, it left the Vios with the fleet-friendly 1.3 XLE as the range-topper. Seems the update was done in error or someone just dropped the ball too early as the 2NR-FE engined Vios is back.

The Vios 1.5 G still comes in both 5-speed manual or CVT variants. The MT comes in at P 979,000, while the CVT sets you back P 1,039,000.

Though its demise has been premature, there’s still some writing on the wall as the Vios 1.5 G only comes in three colors now: Super Red, Grayish Blue Mica Metallic, and Black.

Despite its return, the Vios 1.5 G’s specs remain the same. The 1.5-liter Dual VVT-i makes 107 horsepower and 140 Nm of torque. It rides on four-wheel disc brakes and 195/50R16 machine-finished alloy wheels.

Outside, it has LED headlights, DRLs, front fog lights, and rear combination lamps. It’s also the only Vios variant to sport side mirror mounted turn signal indicators and chrome door handles. Inside, it has leather seats, smart entry with engine push-start, selectable drive modes, speed-sensing door locks, power folding sideview mirrors, and automatic climate control.

Safety-wise, it has 7 SRS airbags, ABS with EBD, stability control, hill-start assist, rear parking sensors with reverse camera, and a digital video recorder.

The revised Vios line-up looks like this:
  • Vios 1.3 J MT – P 732,000
  • Vios 1.3 XE CVT – P 774,000
  • Vios 1.3 XLE MT – P 862,000
  • Vios 1.3 XLE CVT – P 902,000
  • Vios 1.5 G MT – P 979,000
  • Vios 1.5 G CVT – P 1,039,000

  1. As usual, masyado kuripot ang Toyota, talong talo ng Honda; that's why i choose Honda City RS, di mo na kailangan pagandahin at yun Honda Sensing works perfectly as intended. Why do i said di na kailangan pagandahin, well my neighbor has a Toyota GRS at ang daming burloloy na ikinabit para gumanda DAW, but compare to our Honda City RS, na wala naman akong binago, eh pangit parin tingnan at it will be like comparing apple and orange

    2. Ay eh di huwag ka na lang bumili ng mga new models since halos lahat electronics sensors na naka install. Ginagawa kasi tayong tapunan ng toyota at hyundai ng mga old bare models dati kaya nung pumasok mga chinese brands ng level up sila sa specs ng mga new models.

  3. Honda City,Geely Emgrand,MG GT and even the forgotten Nissan Almera are way much better alternatives than the decade old Vios G
Time to phase it out and bring in the New Vios even if its more expensive

  4. Why should we buy this old model vios than the new city with 1M price point? it should cost lower since it is being manufactured here in the country under the CARS program pero mahal pa din.
