Finally, it’s here. The all-new 2024 Toyota Land Cruiser Prado has been launched. Originally pegged for a June 7 launch, Toyota Motor Philippines had to delay its launch timing by more than a month as port congestions have led to stocks arriving much later than expected.
Despite the delay, Toyota dealers continued to take in reservations resulting in already long queues for the much-awaited luxury SUV. And because the lines aren’t getting any shorter, resellers have already priced the three-row SUV to around P 7-million—or close to the Land Cruiser Prado’s luxury twin, the Lexus GX 550 (starts at P 7.578-million).
For 2024, the Land Cruiser Prado comes with just one engine and that’s the gasoline-fed 2.4-liter turbo. The T24-FTS makes 281 horsepower and 430 Nm of torque. This is mated to an 8-speed automatic driving a 4x4 system with locking differentials and five selectable drive modes.
Globally launched in August 2023, the Philippine model LC 250 will continue to be called the Land Cruiser Prado, this despite the “Prado” name being dropped in several other markets.
The all-new Land Cruiser Prado (J250) rides on the TNGA-F platform—something it shares with its bigger brother, the Land Cruiser 300.
Further simplifying the line-up, there are now only three colors (from four): Platinum White Pearl Mica, Attitude Black Mica, and Avant-Garde Bronze Metallic. The only interior color is black. Oh, and the Philippine model will not get the retro grille with the TOYOTA lettering spelt out. Instead, the Land Cruiser Prado here will get the more upscale waterfall grille with vertical chrome inserts and the modern T logo.
Before heading to the line-by-line specs, notable new features of the all-new Land Cruiser Prado include 20-inch alloy wheels with 265/60R20 tires, Adaptive Variable Suspension or AVS, a moonroof, power tailgate, ventilated seats across all three rows, 12.3-inch display audio system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 10-speaker system, rear-seat entertainment system, 360-degree camera, and the most up-to-date version of Toyota Safety Sense: Toyota Safety Sense 3.0.
Of course, all those new features has bumped up the price of the Land Cruiser Prado to P 4.8 million—a P 1.135 million jump from the outgoing Land Cruiser Prado 4.0 V6.
With customer delivers now starting, it’s worth reiterating at this point that Toyota Motor Philippines is implementing a one-price policy across all its dealers. With the Land Cruiser Prado not being a limited-edition model, there’s no reason why anyone should be paying above its suggested retail price.

DeleteAgree with you 6:47! This person doesnt own a Ford and his comment is likely based on hearsay. I have the ranger since 2020 and no problem. Only changed the battery. Test drove HiLux and Navarra before buying and found the ranger the best to drive.

ReplyDeleteToyota's One Price policy is a sham. Yes, there are no dealer mark-ups per se, but if you want a unit you have to avail their in-house financing, in-house insurance, accessories, paint protection and so on and so forth.
ReplyDeleteResellers' price at PhP 7M even more expensive than LC300? The dealers themselves are pocketing the windfall. A few weeks ago, there was a number of LC300 shipment and approached quite a few Toyota dealers for a unit. One dealer south of Manila offered me a unit priced at SRP but have to pre-pay inhouse insurance for 8 years amounting to over 1.5M. Another dealer mentioned 6.5M with one-year insurance. It appears that dealiers do away with the queue. What a rotten system!
ReplyDeleteMy uncle inquired on the L300 and Toyota required him to purchase in-house Insurance, financing, and a Fortuner. These kinds of practices should really be investigated as they are anti consumer and borderline scam.

ReplyDeleteHow likely will Toyota bring in the hybrid given the new tax incentive? Perhaps the price will be comparable to the non-hybrid. Downside of the hybrid though is that there is no 3rd row seat and no spare.

DeleteAnd the issue is not just about badge-consciousness. Several factors like resale value, reliability, spare parts availability and after-sales service are also equally just as important as a car's aesthetics and features.
Why compare a Toyota Land Cruiser Prado to a Jetour T2? The Prado is in a class of its own. The Prado has already been tried and tested for many generations.
