2025 Mitsubishi Xforce Nabs 5-Star Safety Rating


The Mitsubishi Xforce has earned a maximum five-star rating at the 2024 ASEAN New Car Assessment Program or NCAP. The Xforce scored 79.15 out of 100 using the 2021-2025 assessment protocol. The rating is valid for several Xforce markets, including the Philippines.

The Xforce employs the high-rigidity RISE body that both absorbs energy and minimizes cabin deformation in the event of a crash. In Adult Occupancy Protection, it scored 34.89 out of 40 (5-star). Testers noted “Good” levels of protection to the driver and front passenger’s head, pelvis, hips, and feet. It had “Adequate” protection to the chest and legs.

Meanwhile, in terms of Child Occupancy Protection, the Xforce scored 17.03 out of 20 (5-star), while for Safety Assist Technology, it notched a score of 14.85 out of 20 (5-star). Its advanced safety features such as Forward Collision Mitigation worked at various speeds enabling it to pass ASEAN NCAP assessment.

Fitted with Blind Spot Warning and Rear Cross Traffic Alert, the Xforce scored 12.39 out of 20 (5-star) in Motorcyclist Safety. Like its advanced driver assist, it functioned as designed earning it a perfect rating in that regard.

Premiered in Indonesia in 2023 and launched in the Philippines in July 2024, the Xforce is a compact five-seat SUV built around the concept of being the “best-suited buddy for an exciting life.” It was developed with a focus on how compact SUVs are used in the ASEAN region.

It features a stylish yet robust, authentic SUV styling, along with comfort and practicality, such as a spacious cabin and versatile storage spaces, all well-balanced in a maneuverable, compact body size. Furthermore, it delivers safe and reliable road handling in various weather or road conditions, including rough or flooded roads.

Following its launch in ASEAN, Mitsubishi has announced plans to roll it out in other global markets including Latin America, Africa, the Middle East, and South Asia. In some markets, it will be badged as Outlander Sport.

  1. Wait, while the Xforce shares the same blueprints with the Xpander, then what if both Mitsubishis were derived from the technology that was used in the Lancer that was previously marketed in the Philippines and its fellow Southeast Asian countries like Thailand?

  2. 5 star ng ASEAN NCAP means nothing anymore... tests with other vehicles have shown kung gaano kababa ang standard ng ASEAN NCAP compared sa ibang NCAP. Baka 3 stars lang ito sa Global NCAP 🤣

Maybe ANCAP does not mean ASEAN NCAP, but also, it means as an alternative (English) title to the NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration) of the US, hence American New Car Assessment Program... (Ironically, the Xforce isn't even markted in the US and Canada compared to the mechanically-identical Eclipse Cross and as well as the Outlander that shares the same blueprints with the Nissan X-Trail and Renault Koleos.)

    2. Crash safety tests are quite simple, be it global or asean. Its simply this- the body and side beams should have at least 951mpa of tensile strength, and at least 6 airbags. Thats it. In this day and age, every car has that. The only difference is how big or small the car is. The bigger the safer. Thats why small cars
      Can only achieve 3 stars ratings.

  3. ASEAN NCAP crash test methodology and scoring are now similar to Latin NCAP and ANCAP which is good
    Global NCAP and Bharat NCAP (Indian NCAP) got the lowest standards

    1. At least ASEAN NCAP hasn't made the driver monitoring system mandatory yet as ANCAP has done.. those barely work as intended.
