2025 Omoda 5 Receives 5-Star ASEAN NCAP Rating

After scoring a five-star rating at the more stringent ANCAP (Australasian New Car Assessment Program) and Euro NCAP, it’s just going to be a formality for the Omoda 5 to score the same at the ASEAN NCAP. It’s a formality they’ve just achieved with the crossover’s 5-star rating during its safety test.

The Omoda 5 is the first vehicle in the Chery Auto group to have been tested by the ASEAN NCAP. Designed and built as an export product (it’s not sold in the Chinese domestic market), it also emphasizes the importance of this crossover to Chery and Omoda’s Southeast Asian expansion plans.

With a score of 88.64 out of 100—the Omoda 5 scored a five-star ASEAN NCAP rating. Remarkably, it managed to outscore both the Honda CR-V and HR-V which were also tested using the same 2021-2025 protocols.

In terms of Adult Occupant Protection (AOP), the Omoda 5 scored 36.77 out of 40 with testers noting that the vehicle’s frontal compartment remained stable. However, the driver’s chest showed only “Marginal” protection, while the driver’s lower leg received “Adequate” protection. It had “Good” levels of protection elsewhere.

When it comes to Child Occupant Protection (COP), the Omoda 5 reached 17.36 out of 20.

Meanwhile, it received 19.51 out of 20 in Safety Assist Technologies (SAT) and 15 out of 20 in Motorcyclist Safety Technologies (MST). In both cases, the technologies present in the Omoda 5 such as Autonomous Emergency Braking and Blind Spot Detection all passed the ASEAN NCAP’s assessment.
