After previewing it in what seemed a lifetime ago at the Manila International Auto Show (MIAS), GAC Motor Philippines has quietly introduced its first-ever hybrid vehicle for the local market: the GAC Emkoo Hybrid.
Serving as the top-of-the-line variant of the Emkoo compact SUV range, the Emkoo Hybrid is priced at P 1,698,000. Dealers are now accepting reservations with retail sales to start in September.
For its transformation to an electrified compact SUV, GAC Motor ripped out the turbocharged 1.5-liter in favor of a 2.0-liter Atkinson (ATK) cycle engine making 140 horsepower and 180 Nm of torque. With help from a 182 horsepower (134 kW) electric motor, outputs rise to a combined 238 horsepower and 300 Nm of torque. Power is then sent to a two-speed dedicated hybrid transmission (DHT) powering the front wheels.
Per GAC Motor Philippines, the Emkoo Hybrid can do 22.1 km/L.
The rest of the Emkoo Hybrid’s feature set closely mirrors the Emkoo GL with 19-inch alloy wheels, LED headlights with automatic high beams, a 10.1-inch multi-function touchscreen with Apple CarPlay, and a full suite of ADAS.

ReplyDeleteGac uses Toyota hybrid not co developed. Gac is Toyota's partner in China. With Toyota hybrid system maybe the reported figure is believable or maybe even better.

Deletewhich is better this or BYD sealion? Some comments says it's good cos motor is co developed with Toyota but recent news is Toyota will use BYD's DMi for it's hybrids notably for the Vios
DeleteToyota will still use their own ICE that they will mate with BYD's DMi, this is for the new RAV4 and Corolla. It is possible that they might use the whole BYD DMi system for the Vios to save cost.
