When Hyundai Motor Philippines launched the Tucson Hybrid last month, the automaker also used that occasion to update the rest of the Tucson line-up. Since the highlight was the electrified variant, not much information was given about the revamped gasoline and diesel models. However, as stocks start to arrive at dealerships this month, the automaker has now revealed all.
Starting with the exterior colors—the gasoline (GLS) and diesel (GLS+) are available in Phantom Black, White Cream, Shimmering Silver Metallic, Amazon Gray, and Deep Sea. Two interior colors are on offer with Black or Gray (by indent order).
In terms of powertrain, the gasoline—2.0 GLS—gets a normally-aspirated 2.0-liter Smartstream G 4-cylinder engine good for 156 horsepower and 192 Nm of torque. This, like the Tucson Hybrid, is mated to a 6-speed automatic. Opting for the diesel ups the figures to 186 horsepower and 416 Nm with the same displacement. The diesel also gets two additional forward gears with its 8-speed automatic. All Tucson models for 2025 are now purely front drivers.
Outside, not much separates the Tucson variants with all variants receiving LED headlights with static bending light functionality, rain-sensing wipers, power folding and heated sideview mirrors, and roof rails. In fact, the only differentiating factors would be the wheels and tires with 18-inchers for the gas, while the diesel and hybrid getting 19-inchers. Only the Tucson Hybrid gets the panoramic sunroof.
Inside, the Tucson adopts the same dashboard layout of the Santa Fe. All variants now get a good level of comfort and tech features such as the 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, 12.3-inch touchscreen display with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, wireless charger, and six speakers. Dual zone climate control with rear vents is standard, while the driver has the added convenience of power adjustment.
Thankfully, Hyundai has also upped the safety features on the 2025 Tucson with all variants getting six airbags, Multi-Collision Brake System, Hill Start Assist, Downhill Brake Assist, and Tire Pressure Monitoring. Hyundai Smartsense is also standard issue now unlocking features like Smart Cruise Control with Stop and Go, Forward Collision Avoidance Assist, and Lane Keeping Assist. The diesel and hybrid variants are the only ones, however, to have blind spot monitors with collision avoidance assist, 360-degree camera, and park distance warning not just for the front and back, but the sides as well.
As for the warranty, all Tucsons will have a 5-year or 200,000-kilometer bumper-to-bumper warranty. The hybrid meanwhile has an 8-year or 160,000-kilometer warranty for the high-voltage battery. All variants of the Tucson are available now at authorized Hyundai dealerships nationwide, while the Tucson Hybrid can be reserved at: Alabang, Bacolod, Cebu South, Commonwealth, E. Rodriguez, Makati, Pampanga, and Pasig.

ReplyDeleteYes. Because the hybrid uses a t-type spare (steel). The others have a full-sized alloy wheel as a spare.

From what I can see, the Turbo Hybrid may have the edge in terms of fuel efficiency.
Do you think it is worth the 300k PHP price premium?
Tech and feature-wise, they seem neck-and-neck.
Hybrid would probably mean less wear on the engine.
Given that our profile is mostly driving to-and-from Alabang Town Center and SM Southmall, it would probably favor the hybrid?
Diesel would have higher torque though
Without driving the Hyundai hybrid system, my experience would be based more on the Toyota hybrids.
DeleteIf you do more urban driving--stop-and-go traffic, low speed driving, hybrids will be more fuel efficient. On the highway, however, the diesel will have the edge.
AFAIK, the maintenance schedule on both the diesel and hybrid would be the same, diesels though are known to cost more to maintain in the long run.
Take note though that the hybrid requires Euro 5 fuel...so that may limit where you can gas it up.
If going with hybrid, the RAV4 SLE is now priced a smidge over 2M, if you can live without the panoramic roof and a couple ADAS functions. Personally I would still lean towards Tucson Diesel for the torque and not having to worry about a battery system down the road.
