JAC Motor Celebrates 60 Years By Making JS6 Compact SUV Available To PH Buyers

Commemorating the JAC Group’s 60th anniversary this year, the newest brand distributed in the Philippines by Astara makes the all-new JS6 compact crossover available at its pioneering dealership: JAC Manila Bay.

Previewed at the 2024 Manila International Auto Show, the JS6 is considered as one of JAC’s most advanced and innovative motors. Above all, it comes with a competitive price of just P 1.380 million for the sole Flagship variant.

Powered by a turbocharged 1.5-liter 4-cylinder engine, the JS6 makes 182 horsepower and 300 Nm. This is mated to a 6-speed dual clutch automatic.

The JS6’s design features high-mounted LED daytime running lights and quad-LED headlights mounted on the bumper. This distinct face gives it a modern, high-tech vibe. Meanwhile, its 160 mm ground clearance, 20-degree approach, and 19-degree departure angles let you tackle rough surfaces with confidence. Its full-length LED taillights, roof rack, and 18-inch alloy wheels complement its rich feature set that includes a power tailgate and a panoramic sunroof.

It comes in five colors for the Philippine market: Pearl White, Carmenere Red, Moonstone Blue, Stylish Black, and Obsidian Grey

Inside, the JS6 has two 12.3-inch displays and a touchscreen-based infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Leather upholstery, powered front seats, a wireless charging pad, eight-speaker system, dual zone climate control, and a 360-degree camera are found in its generous specs.

And aside from its full complement of airbags and even electronic stability control, the JS6 has an Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) that includes an Automatic Emergency Brake System, Lane Departure Warning, Frontal Collision Warning, Blind Spot Monitoring, and Intelligent Remote Light Switch.

The JAC Group was founded in 1964 as the Hefei Jianghuai Automobile Factory. In 1990, the company achieved a milestone by producing China’s first bus-specific chassis to help the country’s growing transport sector.

In 2001, it was rebranded at JAC Motors and listed on the Shanghai Stock Exchange. Its first multi-purpose vehicle then rolled off the production line in 2002 laying the foundation for the brand as it entered the passenger vehicle segment.

Since then, the brand has achieved notable success across various regions including North America, Middle East, Europe, and most recently, Australia with the introduction of the T9 pickup. JAC Motors has also forged significant partnerships, collaborating with Volkswagen and NIO to produce battery-electric vehicles, and teaming up with Cummins to supply a wide range of engines.

  1. Astara also distributes Peugeot in the Philippine market, but speaking with JAC, then I think there's a breath of fresh and honest air with their cars just as with those ending in C like GAC, JMC, BAIC, SAIC...

  3. Are dual-clutch automatics good in tackling uphill and downhill roads like in Baguio City?
