ACMobility, the official distributor of Kia vehicles in the Philippines is the first carmaker to confirm their highlight for the 9th Philippine International Motor Show or PIMS. Making its Philippine debut at the show is the brand’s first three-row fully-electric SUV: the 2025 EV9.
Launched globally in 2023, the EV9 rides on Kia’s E-GMP or Electric Global Modular Platform—something it shares with the EV6.
Guided by the brand’s “Opposites United” design philosophy, the Kia EV9 takes on a “Bold for Nature” ideology which combines elements from the natural and material worlds. Despite its size, the EV9 delivers impressive aerodynamic qualities with a drag co-efficient of just 0.28. This is thanks to a 3D-sculpted underbody cover, aerodynamic wheels, and air curtains integrated into the front bumper.
Before its arrival into the Philippines, the EV9 has already won major accolades the world over including the North American Utility Vehicle of the Year, Women’s Worldwide Car of the Year, UK Car of the Year, and of course, the World Car of the Year.
Kia Philippines has yet to reveal any specifics to the EV9, but globally, it comes in two battery sizes with the “Standard Range” version having a 76.1-kWh battery, while the “Long Range” version having a 99.8-kWh battery. At its longest, the cruising range is pegged at over 540 kilometers.
The standard engine, fitted to the RWD Long Range model is a 204 horsepower, 350 Nm of torque single electric motor giving this large SUV the ability to sprint to 100 km/h in just 9.4 seconds. Opting for the standard range model ups the outputs to 217 horsepower and 350 Nm of torque, while dropping the sprint time to 8.2 seconds.
The AWD variant, meanwhile, has dual motors delivering 384 horsepower and 600 Nm of torque. 0 to 100 km/h is done in just 6 seconds. Additional performance can be unlocked via an optional Boost feature pushing the combined torque to 700 Nm. 0 to 100 km/h? 5.3 seconds.
Inside, the Kia EV9 offers six- and seven-seater configurations. Like the EV6, the first-row has Relaxation Seats that ensure a comfortable resting posture. But, for the first time ever in an EV, Kia is offering four seating options for the second row—3-seater bench seats, basic-type, relaxation-type, and swivel-type two-seater independent seats—fully utilizing its bespoke platform.
When equipped with the second-row relaxation seats, the EV9 allows first and second-row occupants to recline together while the SUV is charging. With the swivel seat option, the second-row seats swivel 180 degrees to enable conversations with those seated in the third row. Occupants in the third row are provided with charging points and cup holders.
The 9th Philippine International Motor Show is slated for October 24 to 27 at the World Trade Center in Pasay City.

ReplyDeleteIf you’ve watched some EV9 videos from Korea, you’d have seen prices like KRW95k, or about PHP4 million. In the internet age, it’s easy to know that in South Korea and the US, discounts are being offered. In the latter market, the older (ICE equivalent SUV) Telluride continues to sell without incentives. If they launch this significantly higher than PHP4m, I’d like to see how the Ayala group will explain themselves.
