Zeekr Just Beat Tesla, Porsche As World's Fastest Charging EV

Zeekr engineers have managed to hit a milestone by coming up with an EV battery that charges from 10 to 80 percent in just 10.5 minutes making it the fastest charging EV battery ever. Achieved by the Zeekr 007 and its battery capable of 5.5C ultra-fast charging, Zeekr reckons it will remove customer range anxiety.

The Zeekr 007 sedan carries this new lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries and when connected to the the Zeekr V3 ultra-fast charging piles, it can charge at much higher speeds than existing nickel-cobalt-manganese batteries. It beats the likes of the Tesla Model Y, Hyundai Ioniq 5, and Porsche Taycan Turbo which are currently the fastest charging EVs available.

The Zeekr 007 sedan is set to be released in the Chinese domestic market by next week.

Moreover, thanks to the enhanced battery management system (BMS), the vehicle’s charging experience remains stable and fast even in harsh environmental conditions. At temperatures as low as -10 degree Celsius, the vehicles charge from 10 to 80 percent state of charge (SOC) is done in just 30 minutes.

Zeekr has opened over 500 ultra-fast charging stations in China with over 2,700 charging piles, all of which can support 800-volt charging. Zeekr plans to expand the network to 1,000 ultra-fast charging stations in 2024 and will be operating over 10,000 ultra-fast charging piles in 2026.
