BAIC is maintaining their momentum since they returned earlier this year. After the launch of their initial lineup, they’ve now added one more into their roster. This time, it’s the B30e Dune: their new entry-level, powerful off-roader with an attractive introductory price of P 1,488,000.
The B30e Dune only has 2 variants: 2WD and 4WD. There are minimal differences between the two and the biggest disparity is in power. Both have a 1.5-liter turbo engine paired with the hybrid system and a 2-speed hybrid transmission. The 2WD has a single electric motor for the front wheels while the 4WD has 2 electric motors for both axles. The 2WD trim has a total of 329 horsepower and 550 Nm of torque, while the 4WD has 403 horsepower and 685 Nm of torque allowing it to go 0-100 km/h in 6.9 secs. Other advantages of the 4WD trim are Muddy and Wading Drive Modes and Real-Time Intelligent All-Wheel Drive.
It’s size is in between compact crossovers and mid-sized SUVs. It measures 4,730 mm long, 1,910 mm wide, 1,790 mm tall, has a 2,820 mm wheelbase and a ground clearance of 215 mm. Both are fitted with 235/60R19 tires. They also have an approach angle of 24.5 degrees and a departure angle of 30 degrees, with a 450 mm wading depth.
In terms of looks, the B30e Dune has an imposing stance and a boxy silhouette like the other B-series BAICs. It makes itself distinct from its brothers by having a floating roof design and a new front face aesthetic. Instead of a standard grille, it has a Wraparound LED DRL assembly that stretches to the headlights that are automatic and self-leveling.
The 4x4 trim has an additional step board while the rear is made simple by having minimal contours. What made it refreshing is the gloss black upper portion and just the right amount of silver accent on the rear bumper.
The B30e Dune’s cabin has two motifs: one in Gray with Light Green, and the other is Black with Orange, though the latter is available only with the White B30e. The dashboard has a very clean layout as most controls have been put inside the 14.6-inch touchscreen that has Smartphone Mirroring. The same goes for the center console that only features the wireless charger, buttons for the Push Start and Electronic Parking Brake, covered cup holders, shifter, and rotary knob for the drive modes.
Some peculiarities of the cabin include the aircraft-inspired shifter, and the rounded buttons on the steering wheel. In my quick time with the car though, you’ll get used to them quickly. You’ll also get other creature comforts like Powered Front Seats, Dual-Zone Automatic Climate Control, Panoramic Sunroof, and 10.25-inch Digital Instrument Cluster.
Second row occupants will be treated to lots of space in all directions. There’s lots of headroom, elbow room and legroom. Rear air vents are present, as well as a single charging port, and center armrest with cupholders. What’s great about the B30e Dune is the rear seats have two options of folding. You can either fold them in a standard way, with the backrest still on an angle, or totally flat.
Aside from the two folding options, the cargo area has another trick. The B30e Dune comes with a table as the tonneau cover. It measures 110 cm x 30.2 cm x 6 cm and can be folded lengthwise and still be used as a partial cover. The legs are screw-on with rubberized ends and are stashed under the cargo area. They are short but still a nice add-on to a glamping oriented SUV.
The cargo area also has tie-down rings and clasps for any additional accessories. There’s also a 12V and 220V sockets for small appliances and gadgets.
No compromise was done in terms of safety. The 2WD and 4WD iterations of the B30e Dune get the same safety features including ADAS. They have Integrated Cruise Assist, Lane Keep Systems, Intelligent High Beam Control, Forward Collision Warning, and Rear Collision Warning among others.
The new BAIC B30e Dune is now available in all BAIC showrooms nationwide starting at P 1,488,000 for the 4x2 and P 1,788,000 for the 4x4. It comes with a 5-year or 150,000-kilometer warranty (whichever comes first) and is available in Jet Black, Light Gray, Matte Platinum Gray, Moss Green, and Pearl White.
See it for yourself here in SM Mall of Asia until September 22, 2024.

Very good competitive pricing for the BAIC B30 Hybrid SUV 👍👍
ReplyDelete2WD variant is value for money indeed
Better to go on sure quality lynk n co and byd to avoid bad ache
DeleteLynk & Co. as a brand is still unproven as well.
DeleteSir Uly, how many years is the warranty for the hybrid battery (batteries for 4WD variant)?
ReplyDeleteMomentum on launching but sales hardly moved😅😅😅
ReplyDeleteIts just a newly launched brand
DeleteMost of the sales of BAIC under UAAGI came from BAIC B40 4X4 SUV and BAIC B60 4X4 SUV
BAIC is positioned as a SUV specialist brand and not a seller of generic vehicles for 3rd world countries like Daihatsu is doing.
SUV speciaLOST brand
DeleteYeah your favorite Toyota brand LOST WEC and Dakar Rally titles this year 🤣
DeleteAll these random chinese brands launching things, opening their s*** in the Philippine market, but the question is how long will these companies last here?
ReplyDeleteHmmnn...now you see them, later you dont😅😅😅
Deleteparang dine and dash lang hahahaha
DeleteFoton and JAC are operating and selling in the Philippine market longer than Peugeot and Volkswagen
DeleteLocal distributor of BAIC is the one that also owns Foton commercial vehicle local distribution and manufacturing businesses.
Just because they have the same distributor doesn’t mean they will not escape liability
DeleteBAic specialty is copying the jeep brand
ReplyDeleteBAIC B30 Hybrid SUV is more of a Ford Bronco Sport and LR Defender look-alike
DeleteFord Changan and Chery JLR wouldn't bother suing BAIC as they're busy with their own businesses in China now.
I just want to confirm, is this a series hybrid?
ReplyDeleteYup. It's a series hybrid.
Deletenice then. thanks!
DeleteHi! Is the 2wd rear or front? Ty
