JAC Motors Believes Now Is The Right Time To Enter The Philippine Market

JAC Motors believes that now is the right time to enter the Philippine market. Four months after JAC, as a brand, was previewed at the Manila International Auto Show (MIAS), the state-owned automaker based in Anhui, believes they’re more than ready to serve the local car buying public.

The timing is just right as JAC Motors celebrated their 60th anniversary last May. From its beginnings as the Hefei Jianghuai Automobile Factory in 1964, to its stature as a maker of passenger and commercial vehicles that have earned the trust of over 10 million customers worldwide.

Now distributed under Astara, JAC Philippines brings in two vehicles—the JS6 and JS8 Pro—both positioned as value-for-money offerings in a crowded compact crossover and compact SUV segments.

Tonette Lee, the brand head for JAC, says that these two SUVs would spearhead the brand’s push into the market. Other activities include the opening of several new dealerships and seven model introductions by the end of 2024.

“As we continue to grow, we’re excited about the journey ahead. Our network has expanded to six dealerships, with more to come, ensuring that we’re closer to our customers, wherever they may be. Our lineup features models tailored to the diverse needs of our customers. Whether you’re looking for a sub-compact SUV like the JS2 Pro or the JS4, or pickups like the T8 Pro and the soon-to-be-launched T9, or even an exciting new venture into electric vehicles with the Ytterby hatchback that will be formally introduced in September, this year, we have something for everyone,” Lee said.

She added, “We believe in providing value that goes beyond the sticker price, offering a driving experience that is enriching and fulfilling. Because at JAC Motors, we know that you, your family, your dreams, and your journeys all deserve nothing but the best.”

Jessica Ji, Regional Director for Asia Pacific of JAC International, reiterated that the Philippine market has become a key growth area that could help determine the next chapters of JAC Motors’ future.

“We can pinpoint certain dates that are important in JAC Motors’ 60-year history. The first, of course, was its founding on May 20, 1964. The second would be its first production of the JAC truck in April 1968. Then there’s June 1990, when it produced China’s first bus-specific chassis. Its first MPV rolled out on March 18, 2002. On January 17, 2008, JAC Motors debuted its first entry into the passenger-car market, and by 1st quarter of 2024, JAC Motors became part of the local subsidiary of the Astara Group, one of the world’s leading mobility providers. Now, we can add to this list JAC Motors’ official public debut in MIAS on April 4, 2024,” Ji enumerated.

“The timing for JAC Philippines’ entry is just right, as the local mobility market is poised to hit all-time highs in vehicle sales this year. I believe JAC Philippines, which offers vehicles that are reliable and stylish, with a value proposition that’s inclusive of even more Filipinos, can get a sizable portion of that market,” Ji stressed.

  2. What happened to JAC here between 2008 and Q1 of 2024? If I can recall correctly they launched vehicles before and then disappeared probably due to sales or other issues. Parang nakakatakot lang.

    1. They had a different distributor before before switching to Astara PH in Q1. They did launch the brand at MIAS, but didn't really push them. They took their sweet time in opening their first dealership in Manila Bay (hence all this news, etc.) from them.

  3. Jac, Bac, Gac, Baic, Saic maybe I forgot others, it is honestly confusing not helping the cause of Chines brands. They should all sit together have some dimsum and tea and discuss the naming for markets outside of China

    1. Not to mention the funny and strange names for their cars. Makes you question their reliability considering they can't even get their names to sound right

  4. JAC Trucks and Commercial vehicles got a different local distributor which also now sells Kingling Isuzu trucks..Its still in the business of selling JAC trucks and commercial vehicles as Astara won't sell JAC trucks.
The 2nd distributor of JAC vehicles in the Philippine market was Lica Auto Group but they've only sold the JAC vehicles in Luzon area..Lica Auto dropped the JAC vehicle distribution business as part of Lica Auto Group downsizing its operations (they've closed down lots of car dealerships since 2021).
