The Omoda 7 (Not To Be Confused With The Jaecoo 7) Just Recorded A Blistering Quick 0-100 kph Time Of 8 Seconds

Putting money where his mouth is, Omoda & Jaecoo’s international CEO, Shawn Xu, put their upcoming compact SUV, the Omoda 7 through an extreme-temperature test. And as a result, he managed a blistering 0 to 100 km/h time of 8 seconds.

Not to be confused with the yet-to-be-launched Jaecoo 7, the Omoda 7 is a Plug-In Hybrid Vehicle or PHEV that was globally launched at the Beijing International Automotive Exhibition last April. As an electrified vehicle, high-temperature stability is crucial for its evaluation, and it’s something that Xu had to prove.

During its official test in temperatures that soared above 76 degrees Celsius (odd because the hottest temperature ever recorded was 56.7 degrees Celsius), Xu did six acceleration sprints. Benchmarked to do 8.4 seconds in these conditions, Xu managed an average time of 8 seconds. In peak conditions, the Omoda 7 should be capable of the same sprint in 7.85 seconds.

Per Omoda & Jaecoo, these results “affirm its reliability and efficiency under extreme heat, thanks to its advanced engine, battery management system, and cooling technology.”

“This result directly confirms that Omoda 7 can still maintain non-attenuated power output as well as a stable and reliable performance under high-temperature conditions,” said Xu. “The high-temperature endurance test is just the beginning. The Omoda 7 will soon undergo further rigorous evaluations, including assessments of its pure electric cruising range and fuel consumption under power loss conditions in high temperatures. These upcoming tests aim to address mileage concerns and advance the development of efficient and eco-friendly solutions for new energy vehicles,” he added.
