VinFast Says Its VF 3 Micro SUV Will Appeal To Filipinos

VinFast believes its soon-to-be-launched, wallet-friendly VF 3 will appeal to Filipinos, especially considering the volume of motorcycles currently on the road. A quick look at its home market of Vietnam shows just how successful this micro-SUV is: in just 66 hours after its launch, they received a record-breaking 27,400 pre-orders.

According to the Vietnamese carmaker: why risk the elements on two wheels when you can have the safety and comfort of four wheels, a roof, and air conditioning at an affordable price? And its running costs are comparable to that of a motorcycle too.

More than signs of rapid mobilization, VinFast says Vietnamese and Filipino car buyers share a lot of things in common.

There’s a large, young, and tech-savvy population that’s open to new things like electric vehicles. Monstrous traffic is making compact, maneuverable cars like the VF 3 a popular choice. There’s also a growing awareness of environmental issues, which could boost demand for EVs as people look for greener ways to get around. And to top it off, governments are stepping in with policies like tax breaks and subsidies to encourage EV adoption, creating a welcoming market for the VF 3.

VinFast Philippines says the VF 3 is “guaranteed to be priced below P 800,000,” which makes it a dream come true for budget-minded people who’ve always wanted a car. The price will even be lower if the customer avails the VF 3 with battery subscription.

Its ultra-compact size—3,190 mm in length, 1,679 mm in width, and 1,622 mm in height—makes it ideal in Metro Manila’s tight alleys and a champ to fit into tight street parking spots. That’s a major win for city dwellers where not everyone has a dedicated garage in their home.

The VF 3 also rocks an eye-catching design that’s a hit with young drivers who crave style. Its interior is surprisingly roomy, fitting four adults comfortably. It’s perfect for everyday life, from the daily commute to errands to weekend adventures. Plus, the VF 3 will come in nine different colors to choose from.

And as an electric vehicle, the VF 3 is also a zero-emissions hero, contributing to a cleaner environment. That’s a big draw for eco-conscious consumers worried about the impact of gas-guzzlers on air quality and public health. As an added bonus, it also promises lower maintenance costs.

All in all, the VF 3’s success in Vietnam shows the appeal behind the mini-SUV: an affordable, practical, yet stylish electric car that ticks all the boxes for a wide range of drivers. By playing to its strengths and adapting to local markets, VinFast could replicate this success in the Philippines and across Southeast Asia and help the region shift towards a more sustainable future on the roads.
