While Isuzu Philippines is promising to showcase a battery electric vehicle at the Philippine International Motor Show starting October 24, Fuso’s official Philippine distributor, Sojitz Fuso Philippines Corporation, has shown what looks to be the arrival of the e-Canter at its stockyard in Laguna.

Brought in as the long wheelbase form, the Fuso e-Canter is capable of driving up to 200 kilometers between charges thanks to its 124-kWh battery. Thanks to its compact e-Axle powertrain which integrates the axle, reduction gear, motor, and inverter, it puts out a peak 175 horsepower (129 kW). It can climb 20 percent inclines and can run at a top speed of 89 km/h.

Despite packing a large battery, charging times have been shortened—around 6 hours on a three-phase AC connection—thanks to being able to accommodate a peak 22-kW charging rate. Plugging it into a 70-kW DC fast charger (104 kW peak charging) tops it up in just 90 minutes.

As far as EV tech goes, the e-Canter is up there. Not only does it come with regenerative braking, but the battery itself is temperature-controlled to maximize range. Moreover, it’s capable of powering external devices thanks to V2L capability.

Sojitz Fuso Philippines Corporation says it’s bringing in the e-Canter for “exhibition, marketing and promotional purposes.” While it’s not being made for sale, they will consider selling it “once it’s readily available for market launch in the Philippines.”
