Gateway Group's Nissan Mantrade Makes Its Service Mark

For the Silent Generation and Baby Boomers, it was the Manila Trading & Supply Company, a subsidiary of the Cleveland-Akron Bag Company of Ohio, Inc., trading cotton goods, marine and gas engines, marine hardware and, from 1918, automobiles.

For Gen X-ers, Mantrade was the 13,000-square-meter auto dealership at the corner of EDSA and Pasong Tamo, which would become such a landmark, the area is still referred to as Mantrade despite the relocation of the actual dealership to another site along Pasong Tamo (now Chino Roces Avenue Extension).

For Millennials onwards, Mantrade is the premiere, one-stop Nissan dealership in Makati.

In 2018, Mantrade’s centenary year in the automobile industry, the company began operating under the Gateway Group, becoming the exclusive Nissan EV dealer in the Philippines while still providing a wide selection of the most advanced vehicles and, more importantly, top-notch aftersales services.

Paul Kenneth Lee, Nissan Gateway’s Aftersales Brand Head, shares his insights and data supporting Mantrade’s exceptional service department:

“At Nissan Mantrade alone we have 20 work bays, for a total of 71 work bays with lifters and 63 productive work bays without lifters in our six Nissan dealerships nationwide,” Lee begins.

“We offer one-hour guaranteed service for PMS called Nissan Express Service. This is a revolutionary service offer wherein we assign two technicians for your vehicle in order to ensure fast turnaround time and quality service in just one hour”, he added.

With several other Nissan dealers run by other companies, Lee is proud to state what sets Mantrade apart: excellent service.

“Mantrade is a household name in the Nissan network as it is one of the most reliable and trusted branches in the country. One of our very loyal customers goes as far back as having their units maintained at our branch since their kids were little; those kids now drive their own Nissan vehicle.”

Lee also reassured Leaf and Kicks customers that Mantrade can provide qualified aftersales service for their specialized EVs.

“As Gateway Group’s flagship Nissan dealership, Mantrade is fully equipped to service the Nissan Leaf EV. In fact, Gateway is the exclusive seller and service center for the Nissan Leaf EV,” Lee confidently shared, “We have an existing partnership with Nissan Kicks Club of the Philippines wherein we give exclusive promos to all their members.”

Gateway’s Nissan dealerships have acquired such a positive reputation for service, even customers of other Nissan dealerships have moved to Mantrade.

“15 percent of our total units received for PMS at Mantrade are migrating customers. Most of these customers have heard of our customer-first approach to our services. 61 percent of our total units received are for PMS, 27 percent are for general jobs (mechanical), and 12 percent are body repair jobs.”

On the subject of body repair, Gateway’s Nissan dealerships in the NCR have a new, centralized Body Repair and Painting (BRP) facility in Manila.

“Our centralized BRP center for NCR is located at Nissan Otis. To effectively manage workshop capacity, our respective branches closely coordinate with our job controller who oversees the whole BRP operation,” Lee confirms, “We currently have two paint booths in our Otis BRP facility, this ensures that we provide the best quality repairs in the market.”

While most insurance companies award body repairs to the lowest bidders, Gateway Nissan dealerships go the extra mile for their customers. “97 percent of our BRP repairs come from insurance claims. We also have an in-house insurance partner wherein we process the claim to ensure our client’s convenience,” Lee explained.

As the Gateway Group handles 11 auto brands, the Otis BRP facility is not exclusively for Nissan vehicles only, Lee clarifies, “Gateway also carries other brands apart from Nissan, we endorse clients interested to have their units repaired to their respective brands.”

While Mantrade may mean different things to different generations, one thing has been passed on through the years: Service that goes beyond expectations.
