Mazda Philippines Retroactively Extends Warranty Of Hybrid Batteries

Mazda Philippines is extending the warranty of the high-voltage lithium-ion battery installed in the Mazda HEV range. The 24V and 48V lithium-ion batteries in the Mazda3 HEV, Mazda CX-30 HEV, Mazda CX-60 HEV, and Mazda CX-90 HEV will have its warranty coverage extended from 3 years to 5 years, giving customers added peace of mind. It applies to all units sold by Mazda Philippines since their respective introductions starting with the Mazda3 HEV and CX-30 HEV in October 2021.

“The warranty extension of the hybrid battery from 3 to 5 years underscores our dedication to quality, reliability, and customer satisfaction. It reinforces our commitment to providing premium quality hybrid technology and exceptional customer services,” says Steven Tan, president of Mazda Philippines. “Owners of these models will now benefit from comprehensive coverage for their hybrid battery systems, ensuring added peace of mind.”

The Mazda M Hybrid batteries are state-of-the-art and designed with longevity in mind. They are equipped with advanced temperature management systems, automatically optimizing the battery’s performance depending on the driving condition. This prevents excessive heat which can impact battery life and efficiency. It also has its own dedicated Power Control Module (PCM), which ensures that the battery is constantly monitored and protected. The PCM manages the charging and discharging of the battery, maintaining the right balance to prevent overcharging or depletion, extending battery life.

The 24V and 48V lithium-ion batteries are an integral part of the Mazda M Hybrid system. Working in harmony with the Skyactiv engine technology, it provides exceptional driving performance with reduced fuel consumption. The system also reduces tailpipe emissions by switching off the combustion engine at low speeds or at idle.

Regenerative braking captures energy usually wasted during deceleration, storing it in the battery. The Mazda M Hybrid system can then intelligently deploy the stored energy either to provide an electric boost during acceleration or to reduce reliance on the internal combustion engine.

The extended 5-year Mazda M Hybrid battery warranty is on top of the other benefits enjoyed by Mazda owners including a 3-year bumper-to-bumper warranty and a 5-year or 100,000-kilometer free Preventive Maintenance Service (PMS) package—the longest such program in the industry.

For any questions or concerns regarding the warranty extension for the Mazda M Hybrid battery, Mazda owners are encouraged to contact any of the following Mazda 3S dealerships located across the Philippines: Mazda C-5 Pasig, Mazda Quezon Avenue, Mazda Makati, Mazda Alabang, Mazda Sta. Rosa, Mazda Pulilan, Mazda Pampanga, Mazda Dagupan, Mazda Cabanatuan, Mazda Tarlac, Mazda Cebu, Mazda Iloilo, Mazda Bacolod, Mazda Cagayan De Oro, and Mazda Davao.

    1. Hindi naman sya full EV.
The ones offered here are only Mild Hybrid (up to 48V) kaya 5 years is fine for them.
Siguro if they bring Plug-in Hybrid variants later on, then yeah, they can only into 8 year extension.

  2. Too short. Make it 10 years to boost sales..

    1. Mazda is not all about sales volume.
They are now becoming a more premium manufacturer and are going upmarket (as we have seen in the newest CX60 and CX90 na two months minimum ang waiting time).
      They are doing just fine.

    1. Beg your papa for money first, they you may open your mouth and talk.

    2. I'm referring to the burning CX9 that "supposedly" burned because of its battery. This is a real issue. Don't join in, cause the adults are talking

    3. They told me that they've managed to reach out to the owner. That's the most important aspect. It's just funny someone always comments about this particular CX-9 when we've seen cars from other brands burning before.

    4. That is because:

      1. Mazda is now supposedly known for its reliability, being separated from Ford and made in Japan.

      2. The CX9 is a relatively new car, it shouldn't be burning by itself.

      3. The fact that they've reached out to the owner doesn't mean anything. There should already be some form of next step by now... And based on the vague statements being given out, it seems we're not even sure if its the battery that caused the burning.

    5. Precisely. The anti-EV crowd likes to cherry pick sensationalized accounts of battery fires to drive (pun ver much intended) people away from EVs when many ICE vehicles catch fire at a much higher rate, and those mostly go unreported.

    6. The battery part was what was reported by the mainstream media. Mazda PH reached out to the owner and we don't know the details of their deal. Who's to know that there's some sort of NDA involved that's why no one is talking (officially) on both sides.

If there was an issue on the CX-9 (as a whole or as a batch), they'd issue a recall for sure...remember, they're one of the most proactive and transparent on the matter of recalls.

    7. "they're one of the most proactive and transparent on the matter of recalls" - This is exactly why the lack of official statements or updates from Mazda baffles me. They usually go above and beyond in these situations, informing the public about what happened and providing detailed explanations. We’re so accustomed to this positive behavior that their silence regarding the burning CX-9 is deafening. I mean, they're not exactly Ford where if their car burns, you don't question it.

    8. If there's an issue. Let's see.

  4. The owner does not wish to discuss this matter in public, we are respectful. We do not engage with Anonymous. Steven Tan, Mazda.
