PIMS 2024: Mazda Philippines To Launch AutoExe Editions For Mazda3, CX-60


After soft-launching AutoExe with the limited-edition MX-5 AutoExe Edition last March, it’s been confirmed by AutoExe themselves that Mazda Philippines will be rolling out two additional AutoExe models at the Philippine International Motor Show.

Mazda Philippines’ AutoExe offering will be joined by the Mazda3 AutoExe Edition as well as the Mazda CX-60 AutoExe Edition. No official details have been given revealed yet, but given how the MX-5 AutoExe Edition was speced, expect both the Mazda3 and CX-60 to receive a slew of both aesthetic and handling-related upgrades. The Philippine International Motor Show will likely serve as the official launch venue for AutoExe for the Philippine market.

AutoExe is a tuning company and parts maker that specializes in Mazda vehicles. It was founded by former Mazda works driver Yojiro Terada. Known as “Japan’s Mr. Le Mans,” Terada-san has had the most appearances at the world-famous endurance race. With his racing experience, he has treated the Circuit de la Sarthe, where the race is held annually, as a development ground.

Since Le Mans is held on general roads, AutoExe parts are not simply for flashy appearances nor are they limited to circuit use. Instead, the guiding principle is to provide a “New Driving Sensation” and as such, they are parts and accessories developed with street or daily use in mind. AutoExe takes great care to provide parts and accessories that improve driving performance that do not hinder practicality and comfort. They develop parts that create a holistic, complete car when put together.

Furthering this New Driving Sensation, Takao Kijima is part of AutoExe’s engineering team. Known as Mr. Roadster, Kijima-san is central to suspension and chassis work on the first- and second-generation MX-5, and the third-generation RX-7. During his tenure at Mazda, he embraced the so-called Dynamic Kansai Engineering—a way of developing cars that focuses on increasing the sensation of being fun to drive that may not necessarily be captured by instruments and specifications. It is this philosophy that he carries to AutoExe.

  1. Customers are being taken for a ride here, being charged hundreds of thousands more for a suspension set-up that should have been standard replacing their flawed and stiff suspension design and buyers should not be charged a peso more for their already premium pricing.

    1. The new standard suspension (for the CX-60) is fine...but the AutoExe is just transformative. It's not for everyone mind you--about half of current CX-60 owners in the Philippines feel the AutoExe suspension is better; half think the stock is better. So, it depends. I feel if you're driven, go stock. If you're the driver, go AutoExe.
