PIMS 2024: Mitsubishi DST Concept To Make World Premiere At 2024 Philippine International Motor Show

For the first time in Mitsubishi Motors’ history, the global stage is set in the Philippines as Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corporation (MMPC) will host the world premiere of its latest concept vehicle, a 7-seater SUV concept. The groundbreaking reveal will take place during the highly anticipated 9th Philippine International Motor Show (PIMS) 2024, marking a monumental occasion for both Mitsubishi Motors Philippines and the Philippine automotive industry.

The 7-seater SUV concept embodies Mitsubishi Motors’ commitment to provide fulfilling mobility lifestyles that awaken the adventurous spirit of drivers and provide excitement for everyone on board. Although no name was explicitly mentioned, DST Concept did appear in the photo metadata (note: Mitsubishi Motors Philippines has now stripped the metadata a day after we published this).

The unveiling of this new 7-seater SUV concept in the Philippines underscores the brand’s dedication to ASEAN drivers and reaffirms MMPC’s pivotal role in Mitsubishi Motors’ global strategy. Traditionally, such global debuts had taken place in other key markets like Thailand or Indonesia. However, the Philippines, which is now the central focus of MMC, takes the spotlight this year, making the concept car’s reveal more significant.

“The decision to have the world premiere in the Philippines is a testament to the country’s growing importance within Mitsubishi Motors’ global operations,” said MMPC President & CEO, Ritsu Imaeda. “This new concept reflects Mitsubishi Motors’ vision of delivering top quality vehicles to the ASEAN region, and we are thrilled that this will be showcased for the first time in the Philippines.”

Embodying Mitsubishi Motors-ness, the new SUV concept brings together the brand’s heritage of craftsmanship and its commitment to developing vehicles that meet the unique demands of the market.

To see and know more about the world premiere, MMPC is inviting everyone to come visit the Mitsubishi Motors booth at the 9th Philippine International Motor Show on October 24 to 27, 2024 at World Trade Center.

    1. The Triton is an anomaly - the first Mitsubishi pick-up that holds no attraction to me. The Strada has bags more presence. Back to the concept, I think it will be some sort of pseudo-Defender, with an upright stance now made more popular by the LC250.

  3. This might be a montero sport.. a pajero.. or an all new xpander?

  4. Probably not Montero/Pajero Sport. In Mitsubishi's product timeline there is a "7 seater SUV" that comes before the PPV. This is most likely that, probably a slightly bigger Xforce with 7 seats called probably the "Destinator" (hence, concept DST). Ugly name, but rumors of that name surfaced around the same time the Xforce was coming to fruition.

  5. An elongated and raised Xforce?

  6. Seems more like a smaller 7 seater than their current PPV based on the rear quarter window, something like a Hyundai Grand Creta competitor. This is probably a stretched Xforce chassis in the same way Hyundai stretched the Creta to create the Grand Creta. So no, this probably isn't the concept version of the 4th gen Montero Sport.

    1. True. The short rear overhang reminds me of the previous generation Daihatsu Terios/Toyota Rush which was expanded to be a 7 seater sometime in its lifecycle.

  7. A smaller 7 seater than the Montero Sport but bigger than the Xpander? I wonder how they are going to fit that in their lineup. Quite a bold move for Mitsubishi to hold a world premiere for a concept like that in the Philippines. They really are doubling down on their ASEAN-first strategy, making vehicles that are fit for the third world really well.

    1. Strong sales of Geely Okavango/Proton X90 and Chevrolet Captiva/Wuling Almaz in SEA region convinced Mitsubishi Motors Indonesia to produce a new 7 seater SUV based on the XForce and Xpander platform

  12. This is definitely the All New Mitsubishi Montero Sport.

  13. Mitsubishi needs to do their homework and improve on the Xforce platform because currently as it is, it is the least refined and least comfortable crossover to drive. A bigger SUV based on it would be really bad.
