Its products have yet to hit showrooms, but there’s already a new person in charge over at Omoda and Jaecoo Philippines. The transition happened rather quietly (and suddenly) this week after the conclusion of the 12th Philippine EV Summit.
Terry Hu has been appointed as the new country director for Omoda and Jaecoo Motor Philippines, Inc. as the brand seeks to finally launch after a series of delays and setbacks. Hu replaces Marco Chen who setup the foundations to launch the Chinese brand as early as 2023.
Despite not being able to sell even one single vehicle yet, Omoda and Jaecoo Philippines has been busy in the marketing and promotional standpoint. Among its activities, it participated at the Manila International Auto Show (MIAS) as well as mall road shows around the National Capital Region. It has also repeatedly sent motoring media to China.
At the EV Summit, Omoda and Jaecoo’s latest promotional exercise, Hu presented the Omoda E5 and Jaecoo EJ6—the brand’s upcoming EV vehicles. It’s part of the brand’s commitment to offer sustainable mobility for Filipinos. Both vehicles are still not available to customers.
“The Philippines is ready to embrace the new era of sustainable mobility as evidenced by the country’s growing demand for electric vehicles. We are coming into the market ready to bolster the country’s shift to a more environmentally friendly transportation system by offering sustainable automotive innovations following our unique design philosophy. Our expertise in global automotive engineering fuels us in delivering electric vehicles that meet the highest standards of sustainability, performance, and innovation,” said Terry Hu, Country Director Omoda and Jaecoo Motor Philippines Inc.
Additionally, Omoda’s Dorry X1, a futuristic dog robot designed for pet lovers and tech enthusiasts alike, also made a crowd-attracting appearance at the summit. Its cutting-edge design and interactive features drew significant attention, as attendees flocked to see its unique capabilities firsthand.
“The Omoda E5 and Jaecoo EJ6 are a testament to our commitment to help usher in a new era of sustainable mobility in the Philippines. We consider our participation at this year’s electric vehicle summit as a springboard to introducing to the market the engineering and design philosophies behind all our automotive innovations. We are optimistic that the same philosophies will fuel the future of our brands in the Philippines,” said Hu.
