PIMS 2024: Is Suzuki Philippines Launching The Jimny Rhino?

Is Suzuki Philippines launching the Jimny Rhino for the local market? That maybe the case based on the teasers put out by the carmaker ahead of the Philippine International Motor Show (PIMS). Check out the teaser below.

Though nothing has been made official by the carmaker as of yet, the second series of teasers does show a stylized Rhino logo appearing with the silhouette of what looks like the Jimny 3-door. Now, the use of the Rhino emblem on the Jimny isn’t anything new; in fact, it’s been used as early as 1982 in markets such as the UK. Since then, it’s been used in several other markets the latest being in Malaysia.

Over there, the Jimny Rhino is a 30-unit limited-edition run of the 3-door Jimny that sported upgrades including a “vintage-look” grille and rally-style mud flaps. Underneath, it received additional protection for its differential as well as new aluminum cladding for the front bumper and side moldings. Body stickers completed the changes outside.

Inside, the Jimny Rhino received all-weather floor mats.

Now, there’s no 100 percent guarantee that the Philippines will get Jimny Rhino spec-for-spec, but they did promise that this variant will be “new and bold” as well as “fresh and exciting.”

Aside from the potential of the Jimny Rhino for the Philippines, Suzuki says they will also bring in a “future-forward concept that will spark curiosity and excitement among those who are passionate about clean, efficient mobility.”

This is, of course, on top of the brand’s mild hybrid range.

All in all, Suzuki says their pavilion is meant to show that they’re taking a multi-pathway approach to address carbon emissions.

The Philippine International Motor Show is slated from Thursday, October 24 to Sunday, October 27 at the World Trade Center in Pasay City.
