PIMS: Ford PH Gives Ranger Raptor The Twin-Turbo V6

Ford Philippines has finally given its performance truck, the Ranger Raptor the engine it deserves: a 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6.

Priced at P 2,739,000 (a P 394,000 premium over the Bi-Turbo Diesel), the Ranger Raptor V6 packs a 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6. This powerplant makes 397 horsepower at 5,650 rpm and 583 Nm of torque at 3,500 rpm. All that tractive force is then routed through a 10-speed automatic gearbox and permanent all-wheel drive with an electronically-controlled two-speed transfer case and a locking differential on both the front and rear axles.

Unlike the Ranger Raptor Bi-Turbo Diesel, the Ranger Raptor V6 gets adaptive (not passive) Fox dampers with 2.5-inch Live Valve internal bypass fitted with Teflon-infused oil. It also continues to have a rear Watt’s link for better high-speed control across rough terrain.

Other changes include visible twin exhausts with active valve exhaust and four modes: Quiet, Normal, Sport, and Baja, and an idle start-stop system. Engaging the Quiet mode enables occupants to better enjoy the 10-speaker Bang & Olufsen sound system.

The rest of the Ranger Raptor V6 specs closely mirrors the Ranger Raptor Bi-Turbo Diesel. The kit includes a 12.4-inch all-digital driver’s display, a 12-inch portrait-style infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. a 10-way power adjustable driver seat, an 8-way power adjustable front passenger seat.

In terms of safety, the kit includes seven airbags, front and rear parking sensors, rear view camera, ABS with EBD, stability control, hill start assist, hill descent control, adaptive cruise control, AEB with pedestrian detection, lane keeping assist, lane departure warning, blind spot warning with rear cross traffic alert and braking, a 360-degree view camera system, reverse braking assist, evasive steering assist, active park assist, and tire pressure monitoring.

Only 300 units of the the Ranger Raptor V6 will be offered initially and each one comes with a standard 5-year warranty. It also comes in five colorways: Code Orange, Command Gray, Artic White, Absolute Black, and Blue Lightning.

  1. Very good, the 2.0 too small for heavy big raptor

you’re really emphasizing that it’s a V6, as pointed out three times in one sentence.

    1. Cut us some slack...kinda hard doing these stories with the presentations just 15 minutes apart. But yes, corrected that part. The Ranger Raptor V6 is the official model designation though.

    2. It would have been so hilarious if that was on purpose! The playful, sarcastic tone really sends a cheeky message to Ford: "Finally, a V6!"

    3. HAHAHA! I'm no product planner, but I've always believed the Raptor SHOULD have come with the V6 Turbo in the first place (at the bi-turbo diesel's price) though.

    4. Boss Uly, you think it's worth the extra 400k over the diesel?

    5. Have yet to drive it BUT based on spec alone, yes. I always this is the engine the current Raptor deserves. Besides, if you have the budget to splurge on the Raptor diesel, might as well go for the V6 gas.

The engine, front locker, and more advanced Fox shocks alone are worth the admission plus you get a better speaker system and a 300-unit limited run too.

I won't pay above sticker though, so watch out.
