Porsche Carrera GT Receives Updates 20 Years After It Ended Production

Almost 20 years after it ended production, Porsche is giving its Carrera GT (2003-2006) a couple of handling updates to enhance the super sports car’s already impressive performance, and improve its overall safety and durability.

The Carrera GT, celebrated for its 605-horsepower V10 engine, has just received new tires courtesy of Michelin. The Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2, marked with the N-designation (exclusive to Porsche vehicles), improves the Carrera GT’s traction on both wet and dry surfaces. Incorporating more advanced rubber compounds and construction techniques, this is almost a necessity given the Porsche’s challenging driving dynamics.

Together with the tires, Porsche found the need to redo the front double wishbone suspension, particularly its spherical joints. The new titanium components not only enhance the Carrera GT’s suspension durability, but also significantly improves the performance and handling.

This dual approach—upgrading both tires and suspension—reflects Porsche's dedication to enhancing the driving experience and ensuring the safety of all its cars. The company continues to prioritize the legacy of the Carrera GT, reaffirming its commitment to excellence and innovation. As the automotive landscape evolves, Porsche recognizes the importance of maintaining strong relationships with its customers, especially those who own such a storied vehicle.

Now, the cost of these new titanium components is substantial. However, Porsche is going above and beyond typical upgrade measures. All Carrera GTs returned to dealerships for the suspension fix will receive a set of Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires.

In addition, Carrera GT owners are encouraged to visit Porsche Philippines to have their vehicles checked, ensuring they receive the latest enhancements and maintain the highest standards of performance and safety.

The Carrera GT remains a symbol of Porsche’s engineering prowess and commitment to performance. With these latest enhancements, Porsche is not only revitalizing a classic supercar but also ensuring that it remains a thrilling and safe driving experience for its owners. As the new tires and suspension components are rolled out, Carrera GT owners can look forward to improved handling, performance, and peace of mind behind the wheel.
