Have P 312-million To Spare? You Can Be The Owner Of This 2017 Bugatti Chiron

Have you got P 312 million to spare? Well, if you do, you could be a proud owner of a 2017 Bugatti Chiron. This Chiron, along with a red one, were seized early this year by the Bureau of Customs for being smuggled into the country.

Both the blue 2017 Bugatti Chiron and the red 2019 Bugatti Chiron will go under auction via sealed bids this Monday, November 18 10 AM at the Bureau of Customs office in the Port Area of Manila. The older of the two Chirons has a floor (minimum) price of P 312,390,878.00, while the newer one is pegged at P 334,238,820. To weed out joy bidders, the Bureau of Customs set a bond of P 15,619,543.90 for the blue and P 16,711,941.00 for the red Chiron.

If you do have the dough to spare, take note that bidders “must have a Certificate of Accreditation as Dealer of Motor Vehicles and/or their components issued by the Land Transportation Office.” What this means is that monied private individuals can’t just buy these two hyper cars; they’d have to go through an LTO accredited dealer who’s willing to front and deal with the paperwork for them.

Two recall, the Bureau of Customs issued and executed a Warrant of Seizure and Detention for these two Bugatti Chiron hyper cars—the blue one bears the license plate number NIM 5448, while the red has license plate number NIM 5450. Both are registered under the names of foreign nationals—Thu Thrang Nguyen for the blue and Menjun Zhu for the red.

During its investigation, the Bureau of Customs saw that these two vehicles were frequently being seen in the areas of Muntinlupa, Pasig, Pasay, and Cavite. The Management Information Systems and Technology Group (MISTG) of the BOC later confirmed that the motor vehicles do not have any import documents on record.

The Bugatti Chiron is a mid-engine, two-seater sportscar packing a quad-turbo W16 engine. It produces a peak output of 1,500 horsepower and 1,600 Nm of torque. It can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 2.4 seconds, 0-200 km/h in 6.5 seconds, and 0-300 km/h in 13.6 seconds.

Bugatti has ceased production of the Chiron just this May, replacing it with the Bugatti Tourbillon.
