Kia Confirms Arrival Of EV3; Expansion Of Hybrids In ASEAN


Kia has confirmed the arrival of the EV3 to the Asia-Pacific (ASEAN) region starting in 2025. The compact SUV is poised to become the new entry-point in Kia’s battery electric vehicle range and will join the EV6 and EV9.

First launched for the Korea and then Europe, the EV3 was shown in Taiwan for the first time. It adopts the ‘Opposites United’ design philosophy. The EV3 features boxy rear fenders, a sloping roofline as well as a robust stance delivering a modern sporty design that is sure to appeal. The EV3 measures in at 4,300 mm in length, 1,850 mm in width, and 1,560 mm in height. It sports a 2,680 mm wheelbase.

Like the EV6 and EV9, the EV3 is built on the E-GMP (Electric Global Modular Platform). The EV3 packs 204 horsepower (150 kW) and 283 Nm of torque. It comes in two battery sizes—58.3-kWh and 81.4-kWh. With that, its range between charges range from 436 kilometers to 605 kilometers. Performance-wise, 0-100 km/h is done between 7.5 to 7.7 seconds.

The EV3 also features Electric Dynamic Torque Vectoring Control (eDTVC) for optimum traction on the move. The vehicle also includes a variety of advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) including Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist 2, Lane Keeping Assist, Highway Driving Assist 2, Reverse Parking Collision-Avoidance Assist and Remote Smart Parking Assist.

Aside from the showcasing of the EV3 in Asia-Pacific for the first time, Kia has emphasized its goal of introducing a full line-up of EVs at various price points. In addition, they plan to expand their hybrid electric vehicle (HEV) offerings while balancing it with new internal combustion engine vehicles.

Kia also intends to stabilize its EV production and battery supply system by operating six global EV production bases by 2025.

By 2030, Kia aims to sell 1.6 million EVs annually by 2030.

    EV3 is likely gonna be priced at 2.3 Million Pesos when it becomes available in the Philippine market
