Philippines Says Goodbye To The Mazda CX-3

Pour one out for the Mazda CX-3. It has now been discontinued in the Philippines after being on sale in one form or another for eight years.

Although no formal announcement was made, the sub-compact SUV has been dropped in the official Mazda Philippines website and its place in the price list now just says, “Lorem Ipsum.”

The CX-3 was first launched for the Philippine market in 2016. Despite offering a driver-centric experience, it never really caught on due to its high sticker price, small size, and low ground clearance (compared to other small SUVs).

Mazda Philippines tried their best to re-formulate the CX-3 with refreshes in 2018, 2019, and 2022. It even received a commendable power bump to its 2.0-liter Skyactiv-G engine. By 2023, the carmaker switched sourcing to Thailand in a bid to make its price and specs more competitive.

In 2024, in what effectively became the CX-3’s final model year in the Philippines, it was only offered in a single variant—the CX-3 Sport—priced at P 1.51-million. It offered features such as 18-inch alloy wheels, leather seating with power adjustment for the driver, a 7-speaker Bose sound system, and upgraded connectivity and safety features. Color-wise, it debuted Aero Gray which also made its way to the MX-5 sportscar as well.

With the discontinuation of the CX-3, the CX-30 becomes the most affordable Mazda SUV. Priced, however, at P 1,995,000—it’s not exactly the cheapest option. It does, however, come with the Mazda M Hybrid system. The CX-30 received its very own set of updates in 2024.

  1. Ahh... the one that's a hatchback pretending to be a crossover/SUV. I totally forgot about it.

  2. Used to be popular when it was first released in the market in 2016
Too bad its low ground clearance, mediocre interior space and rising prices made it unbearable and uninteresting to buy

  3. In PH with that price point, no brainer to choose Innova G.
