New vehicle sales remained steady last September, moving a total of 39,542 units. This is a one percent growth compared to the 39,155 units sold in August and a 2.4 percent growth (38,628) compared to September 2023. This is according to the joint report of the Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers, Inc. and the Truck Manufacturers Association (CAMPI-TMA).
Toyota remained the best-selling auto brand last September, taking a 46.62 percent market share with 18,434 units sold. Following it in second place is Mitsubishi with 19.01 percent (7,515), Ford with 6.26 percent (2,477), Nissan with 5.19 percent (2,052 units), and Suzuki with 4.51 percent (1,784 units).
Sales of Chinese brands remained steady with a 5.44 percent of total market share despite Geely pulling out of CAMPI. MG remains the dominant Chinese brand with a 2.41 percent market share. They are also the only Chinese brand to squeeze into the Top 10 best-selling brands for the month.
Newly-minted Ferrari distributor, Velocita Motors Philippines also happened to report their first sales. Starting July, the luxury sportscar maker has managed to move a total of nine units already (four in July, one in August, and another four in September).
Aside from Ferrari, other brands that performed well versus August 2024 sales include BMW (+35 percent), Jaguar Land Rover (+77 percent), and Mazda (+27 percent). On the other hand, those that saw the biggest declines include Nissan (-16 percent), Foton (-10 percent), and Peugeot (-31 percent).

Commercial Vehicle sales picked up by eight percent to 253,542 units as of end-September from 234,834 units in the same period last year, while Passenger Car sales grew 13.4 percent to 90,765 units from 80,009 units in the same period in 2023.
Meanwhile, for the first nine months of the year, the share of Chinese brands remained steady at 5.42 percent. This figure includes the sales of Geely from January to June 2024.
