In case you missed it, Tesla is already in the Philippines. And, they’re promising to upend not just the Electric Vehicle or EV market, but the mainstream vehicle market as well thanks to the competitive pricing of its Model 3 and Model Y.
But just as quickly as they’re going to change the Philippine auto industry landscape, they’ve also started to put some peculiar Elon Musk-esque spin in some terminology. For starters, Tesla Motors Philippines would rather not have you call their “Experience Center” in Uptown Parade, Bonifacio Global City (BGC) a dealership.
From their PR:
As a note, Tesla, a global manufacturer of EVs and sustainable energy solutions, is entering the Philippine market on its own, hence we encourage referring to its Taguig establishment as the Tesla flagship store or showroom instead of referring it as a dealership.Yeah, we kid you not. This is despite the fact it says, “Importer and Dealer” right there on the front glass.
So, ladies and gentlemen, from now on, please call it the Tesla Showroom or, if you follow the official designation on the website, the “Manila-BGC Tesla Center.” Whatever you call it, this will be the place where you can explore, purchase, and even have your Tesla Model 3 or Model Y serviced.
For more information about Tesla, you can visit their showroom or call their toll free hotline: 1800 13220087.
If I can locally order a Tesla purely online, without setting foot there during the purchase process (except for vehicle turnover), then I’m fine not calling it a dealership.
ReplyDeleteAgree!
Deletehmph, arte na agad lol. Tomayto tomahto....... I personally think the overwhelming majority here will ALWAYS call it a dealership, or probably showroom.
ReplyDeleteAnyway....it's nice to finally see Tesla set up presence here officially :)
Thats a nice dealership.
ReplyDeleteSelling prices of models 3 and Y?

DeleteTrying to differentiate itself from the usual dealerships to portray the brand as unique and premium and by appealing to the pride of potential buyers, they would rather be called a flagship store or "experience center". But the reality is they are still selling electric vehicles and subject to all the limitations and problems inherent in EVs like range and charging anxieties, high initial costs, low resale values and high parts and repair costs considering that you can only avail of these services from their lone flagship store. In their showrooms in the US, after an initial surge of sales, EVs are now hardly selling and you can find thousands of unsold Teslas accumulating dust in acres of parking lots as buyers realized they have better options like hybrids and ICE.
ReplyDeleteNice pricing. Will put pressure on overpriced EVs being sold here. Better deal vs BYD Seal and the Ioniq 5. Even hybrids might need to be price adjusted.
ReplyDeleteIs that Tesla Delaership open on Sundays?
ReplyDeleteOk then... I'll call it a "Casa".
ReplyDeleteWhats the big deal...
ReplyDeleteElon Musk Showroom
