The Subaru Legacy Is Now A Japan Automotive Hall Of Famer

Just before Subaru’s decision to discontinue the nameplate, the Legacy has been inducted into the Japan Automotive Hall of Fame this 2024. This is the third Subaru vehicle selected as a Japan Automotive Hall of Fame Heritage Vehicle following the Subaru 360 in 2004 and Subaru 1000 in 2017.

The Japan Automotive Hall of Fame recognized the contribution of the Legacy in establishing the “full-fledged station wagon” market in Japan. Moreover, it created the foundations of the now Subaru core technologies such as the Boxer engine and symmetrical all-wheel drive system.

Subaru developed the Legacy from the ground up with the aim of creating a driver’s car. It’s based on their belief that “perfect driving will lead to safety.” Thanks to a continuous evolution of its proven formula, the Legacy has managed to sell more than 7.4 million examples in seven generations.

The Legacy also gave birth to an SUV derivative, the Subaru Outback in 1994.
