The Xiaomi SU7 Ultra Is Now The Fastest EV Around The Nürburgring Nordschleife

Xiaomi has just unveiled the highest-performance version of its EV, the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra. Coincidentally, the device, and now, EV carmaker has also received an LTO certification to start sales locally.

First things first, the SU7 Ultra made headlines ahead of its launch as a stripped down, prototype version of it managed to set a Nürburgring Nordschleife time of 6 minutes 46.87 seconds, making it faster than a Porsche Taycan Turbo GT or Tesla Model S Plaid, despite losing power at around 4 minutes into its lap. Xiaomi says they plan to head back to the ‘Ring to officially smash Porsche’s record.

Now, the SU7 Ultra is a technology powerhouse. It’s the first to debut Xiaomi’s new V8s motor—the brand’s most powerful production electric drive. Packing two of those V8s and one V6s, the SU7 Ultra generates 1,548 horsepower helping it reach 100 km/h (from zero) in just 1.98 seconds. 0 to 200 km/h is done in just 5.86 seconds, while top speed is 350 km/h.

Helping putting all that power to the pavement, the SU7 Ultra has a much more aggressive aero. Compared to the “regular” SU7 Max—a favorite of Ford President and CEO Jim Farley—it’s longer and lower. At the front, SU7 Ultra features a large front splitter and air dam paired with U-shaped air blades. The intake grille has been expanded, while at the back, the active rear diffuser can switch between two modes—low drag or high downforce. A fixed carbon fiber wing helps it achieve up to 285 kilograms of downforce all in all.

Moreover, the suspension has been retuned and its brakes beefed up to handle the extra performance. In fact, it can decelerate to a stop from 100 km/h in just 30.8 meters.

Inside, the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra features new sport seats with active bolsters, a racing-style steering wheel finished in Alcantara and carbon fiber, a dedicated “Boost” button, and of course, new visuals to its all-digital gauge cluster. It even boasts of simulated sounds: Ultra Electric, Ultra Sonic, and Ultra Pulse which it even broadcast it to outsiders via a 40-watt external speaker.

Now, the interesting bit is that the Land Transportation Office has officially certified the Xiaomi SU7 for sale in the Philippines.

Although the version in question isn’t this high-performance SU7 Ultra, this V6s-powered version still manages to pack 299 horsepower and 400 Nm of torque. In this guise, 0 to 100 km/h is done in a still respectable 5.28 seconds, while top speed is at 210 km/h. The 73.6-kWh CATL-supplied lithium iron phosphate battery also promises a 700-kilometer range.
