Volvo Cars Philippines brings in its smallest battery electric vehicle yet, the 2025 EX30. The EX30 joins the XC40 Recharge and C40 Rechange in the Swedish carmaker’s growing EV line-up locally. Priced starting at P 2,990,000, it comes with a 3-year unlimited bumper-to-bumper warranty and a 8-year or 150,000-kilometer battery warranty.
The EX30 is designed to have the lowest carbon footprint of any Volvo car to date. At 200,000 kilometers of driving, its entire well-to-wheel emissions is at just 23 tons—60 percent less than the gas-powered XC40.
In the Philippines, the EX30 comes in the Single Motor Extended Range (E400V18) variant which comes with a 69-kWh lithium-ion battery with a Nickel Manganese Cobalt (NMC) cathode. This offers up to 592 kilometers of range—the longest in the premium small SUV segment. In addition, the single rear-drive electric motor produces 272 horsepower and 343 Nm of torque enough for a 0-100 km/h time of 5.3 seconds and a top speed of 180 km/h.
Intelligent battery preconditioning allows for rapid charging. A 10 to 80 percent fast charge just takes as little as 26.5 minutes using a DC connection. When using a conventional AC charger, it can also charge up to five times faster with a 32-amp connection taking as little as 4 hours (8 hours using a 16-amp fuse).
The EX30’s styling is unmistakably Volvo but shrunk down to a 4.23-meter-long body. Styling cues include the Thor’s Hammer headlights (now rendered digitally), a clamshell hood, 19-inch alloy wheels, a panoramic sunroof, and a two-piece taillight with the same pixel-like treatment.
In terms of colors, a total of five are offered in the Philippines: Moss Yellow, Cloud Blue, Crystal White, Onyx Black, and Vapor Gray.
Inside, the EX30 sports a Scandinavian minimalist cabin with sustainably at the front and center. The color-coordinated cabin—four colors are on offer—Breeze, Mist, Pine, and Indigo—are made from renewable and recycled materials. Regardless of colorway, the EX30 comes with five different ambient lighting themes, each one inspired by a different Scandinavian landscape and subtly shifting in color, adding a sense of calm to the interior.
At the center is a 12.3-inch portrait-style touchscreen which doubles as the instrument cluster. Powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Cockpit Platform, it means fast, responsive, and precise controls and functionality. It also opens the EX30 to over-the-air updates.
The EX30 comes standard with a 5-speaker 100-watt sound system, but can be speced with a 9-speaker Harman Kardon with 1,040-watts of power. Either way, the speakers have been oriented into a sound bar setup to reduce the wiring and to free up interior space.
The infotainment system itself is powered by Google’s Android Automotive Operating System. Google services come built in, but Apple hasn’t been left out thanks to wireless CarPlay—the first of any Volvo Car. It also comes with a wireless device charger and four USB Type-C ports.
Thanks to its EV platform, the EX30 has a sizeable cargo hold. With the rear seats up, it measures at 318 liters, growing to a massive 904-liter hold with the rear seats folded down and counting the 61-liter underfloor compartment. There’s also a “frunk” for small items.
For safety, the EX30 comes with the latest cutting-edge tech from Volvo Cars. This includes the new Park Pilot Assist which will park the EX30 by itself, operating the throttle, brakes, and steering, with just a few taps of the screen at speeds up to 22 km/h. It can handle all types of parking spaces, including parallel, curved, perpendicular and diagonal fishbone-style, making parking in tight spaces a breeze. It also comes with collision avoidance systems (front and rear), lane keeping systems (aka Pilot Assist), drive alert systems, and a 360-degree camera.
