Barely a month after Suzuki unveiled their all-new Dzire sub-compact sedan, Honda has done the same with the all-new 2025 Amaze. Although there’s a very slim chance this sub-compact will make it to the Philippine market, it will likely become the basis of the next-generation Brio.
Powering the Amaze is Honda’s tried-and-tested 1.2-liter 4-cylinder engine. Found in the current-generation Brio, it continues to make 90 horsepower at 6,000 rpm and 110 Nm of torque at 4,800 rpm. It continues to be available in both manual or CVT automatic.
The all-new Amaze measures in at 3,995 mm in length, 1,733 mm in width, and 1,500 mm in height—all complying with India’s favorable GST bracket for cars with a sub-4-meter length. Weighing between 952 to 986 kilograms, there’s not much mass for the powertrain to pull around and this contributes to its sky high 19.46 km/L fuel economy rating (18.65 km/L for the manual).
Upping the safety, the Amaze comes equipped with the segment’s first Honda Sensing ADAS system, at least for the highest variants. This bundles six different driver aids such as adaptive cruise control, lane keeping assist, and collision mitigation braking. This is on top of up to 6 airbags, ABS with EBD, stability assist, Lane Watch blind spot camera, and a multi-view rear parking camera.
Style-wise, the all-new Amaze takes on the same design found in the Indian market Elevate (Japanese market WR-V). Cues include the upright grille with the checkered flag motif, projector LED headlights and fog lights. At the back, it gets a City-esque wing-shaped taillights, while at each corner are diamond-cut 15-inch alloy wheels.
Inside, the Amaze’s interior continues to be a two tone of beige and black (something that’s loved by the Indian market). It tries to emulate the full-length mesh style design of the CR-V and Civic, but here, the AC vents are clearly demarcated. Features include a 7-inch full-color TFT display, a floating style 8-inch touchscreen infotainment display with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a wireless smartphone charger, automatic climate control with rear vents, and even a push-button start-stop system.
The Amaze also gets Honda’s advanced telematics system, Honda Connect which can be integrated into the Alexa smart home ecosystem as well as smart watches like the Apple Watch.
With neither Indonesia nor Thailand getting the Amaze, there’s a very slim chance that markets such as the Philippines will get this model. However, you can bet that the general looks and features will likely form the basis of the next-generation Brio which should just be around the corner with an expect 2025 release date.
