Kia is expanding its global SUV line-up with the introduction of the Syros. This latest SUV joining the likes of the Sonet and Seltos bridges an ever-smaller niche. This time, it’s marketed to individuals seeking a value-packed urban crossover with more practical rear seats.
Riding on a reinforced K1 platform which it shares with the likes of the Hyundai Casper and Exter, the Syros comes with certain segment-first features, particularly rear sliding, reclining, and ventilated seats. Its 2,550 mm wheelbase delivers class-leading interior space which is also pretty high in terms of tech. Cabin tech include a 30-inch “Trinity” Panoramic Display panel (12.3-inch digital gauge cluster + 12.3-inch infotainment screen + 5-inch touchscreen climate control) powered by Kia’s ccNC software, ventilated front seats, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, 64 ambient color lighting, an electronic parking brake with auto hold, rear AC vents, and, get this, an optional 8-speaker Harman Kardon speaker system too.
The Syros embodies Kia’s Opposites United philosophy. Despite being a combustion engine model, its aesthetics adhere close to the Korean automaker’s futuristic cubist EV design. This includes the Ice Cube multi-reflector front LED headlights, Star Map LED rear lights, the “Digital Tiger Face,” the flushed door handles, and 17-inch alloy wheels with a Crystal Cut design.
Under the hood, the Syros boasts of two engine options—a 1.0-liter turbocharged Smartstream-G engine with 120 horsepower and 172 Nm of torque, and a 1.5-liter common rail diesel with 116 horsepower and 250 Nm of torque. Both are offered in a choice between a manual or automatic transmission.
As for safety, the Syros comes with 6 SRS airbags, front and rear parking sensors, a 360-degree camera, ABS with EBD, vehicle stability control, and a set of 16 ADAS features that meet the criteria for Level 2 self-driving.
So far, the Kia Syros is confirmed for the Indian market where it will compete in the sub-4-meter SUV segment. No word if Kia plans to expand its availability to cover more markets and/or regions.
They should bring the diesel variants here and price it like a raize, it'll for sure sell like hot cakes. Filipinos are known to save more on fuel specially diesel like innova than protect the environment.

Its up to Kia China if they'll bother manufacturing and releasing the LHD version of the Syros
This should replace picanto and compete against the likes of spresso. But if kia ph brings the diesel here, that would cannibalize the sonet. Though i doubt ayala's gonna bring syro's diesel since they're into green cars now.

DeleteMaybe Suzuki should leave the Philippine market just like it did with leaving the US market back in 2012, to be honest, Suzuki is far from relevant nowadays compared to when it was under General Motors before.
