The Philippines Is Now Part Of Organization That Protects, Preserves Historic Vehicles

The Philippines joins the Fédération Internationale des Véhicules Anciens or FIVA. FIVA is the worldwide organization dedicated to the protection, preservation, and promotion of historic vehicles and related culture, as well as their safe use. Since 2017, FIVA has been a non-governmental partner of UNESCO.

The Philippines joins two other nations, Kyrgyzstan and South Korea in joining FIVA.

“We are thrilled to be welcoming three exciting new nations to the FIVA fold,” says Gabriela Magureanu, FIVA Vice President of Membership. “While the club in the Philippines [Automobile Association of the Philippines] is the country’s biggest and oldest club, Kyrgyzstan is an example of the many new and growing historic vehicle movements emerging around the globe. Meanwhile, South Korea is a relatively new addition to the international community of enthusiasts but joins FIVA at a significant milestone in its automotive history.

The news was announced at FIVA’s recently concluded annual General Assembly in Vienna. It was also the last FIVA meeting for the organization’s renowned Vice President of Communications, Gautam Sen – who has completed the maximum three terms of three years each. He will now be handing over to Ramin Salehkhou, who has almost a quarter-century of experience in the historic vehicle field and enjoys a close working relationship with Gautam, ensuring a smooth continuation of the expanding communications platform that Gautam has built.

“Under Gautam's leadership, FIVA has taken a great leap forward in terms of social media, and recognition as the figurehead of the global historic vehicle movement,” concludes FIVA President Tiddo Bresters. “I trust Ramin will perpetuate and build on that position. And with Luigi Frigerio as the newly elected Vice President Finance, FIVA is perfectly equipped to remain financially sound.”
