Drift King Keiichi Tsuchiya, Hyundai N Work To Make The Ioniq 5 N DK Edition

Drift King Keiichi Tsuchiya didn’t just give his stamp of approval to the Hyundai Ioniq 5 N, he actually helped create a special edition of the all-electric performance car (with the help of Autobacs Seven) which will be sold in Korea and Japan called the Ioniq 5 N Performance DK Edition (or Ioniq 5 N DK Edition for short).

The powertrain of the Ioniq 5 N DK Edition is left untouched (as it should) given its dual electric motors already generate up to 650 horsepower and 770 Nm of torque. Instead, Tsuchiya worked to make it even more “driftable” (even if the Ioniq 5 N does come with a single button Drift Mode).

Things start with a set of unique H&R springs to bring this two-ton EV’s center of gravity even lower. Then, there’s a set of TWS 21-inch forged alloy wheels. Finally, there’s the six-piston Winmax monoblock front brake calipers which cover 54 percent more surface than the “regular” Ioniq 5 N. The front and brake pads are also unique to the DK Edition.

Together with these new performance changes, the Ioniq 5 N DK Edition gets carbon fiber bits in the form of a new front splitter, rear diffuser, and rear wing. The kit, Hyundai says, produces real downforce to improve grip and high-speed stability, though they didn’t divulge exact numbers. There are also various green accents, a nod to Tsuchiya’s iconic all-green racing suit.

“I have experienced the Ioniq 5 N many times and have been surprised and delighted every time, and I met Hyundai N to tune the best high-performance electric vehicle to my style,” Tsuchiya said in a statement. “I hope you will experience another level of enjoyment with the Ioniq 5 N through the DK Edition, which was completed with Keiichi Tsuchiya’s sensibility and Hyundai N’s technological prowess.”

  1. Given the history between Japan and South Korea, then it honestly does not make any sense for a Japanese driver to be in a South Korean car.
