After its global introduction about a year ago, Porsche Philippines is accepting orders for the all-new, second-generation Macan. Slated for a January launch, the Macan Electric signifies a big evolution for the nameplate as it goes full electric this time around (see the official teaser below).
Based on the Porsche Philippines website, all four variants of the premium compact SUV—Macan Electric, Macan 4 Electric, Macan 4S Electric, and Macan Turbo Electric will be made available.
Even in its base form, the Macan Electric offers enough grunt to outrun some sports cars. The single electric motor offers 340 horsepower (360 with Overboost Power and Launch Control) and 563 Nm of torque. This is enough for a 0-100 km/h sprint in 5.7 seconds and a 220 km/h top speed.
Moving to the Macan 4 Electric, the dual motor set-up boosts the outputs to 387 horsepower (408 with Overboost Power and Launch Control) and 650 Nm of torque. The century sprint drops to just 5.2 seconds, with the top speed remaining the same.
Onto the Macan 4S Electric, the outputs are even higher at 448 horsepower (516 horsepower with Overboost Power and Launch Control) and 820 Nm of torque. 0-100 km/h takes a scant 4.1 seconds, while top speed goes up slightly to 240 km/h. Fast as it is from a standstill, this Macan variant takes just 2.4 seconds to go from 80 km/h to 120 km/h.
Finally, there’s the big daddy—the Macan Turbo Electric. This range-topping variant makes an impressive 584 horsepower (639 horsepower with Overboost Power and Launch Control) and 1,130 Nm of torque. Those impressive numbers equate to devastating performance figures: 0-100 km/h in 3.3 seconds, 0-200 km/h in 11.7 seconds, and a top speed of 260 km/h.
The all-new Macan rides on the Premium Platform Electric (PPE). Its 800-volt architecture equates to ultra-fast charging times—up to 270 kW using a DC charger, topping up the 100-kWh (95-kWh usable) from 10 to 80 percent in just 21 minutes. At 400-volt charging stations, a high-voltage switch can effectively split the battery into two, upping the charging efficiency to 135 kW. AC charging at up to 11 kW is possible using household wall boxes. While driving, up to 240 kW of energy can be recuperated via the electric motors while driving helping achieve up to 654 kilometers of range for the Macan Electric.
Design-wise, the all-new Macan retains the classic proportions of the well-loved compact SUV. Yet, details strongly suggest its electric nature through the shallow angle of the hood and the strongly-pronounced fenders. Dimensionally, it’s 4,784 mm long, 1,938 mm wide, and 1,622 mm high. Its wheelbase is 86 mm longer than the previous model (2,893 mm), but is balanced off by shorter overhangs at the front and back.
The headlights are now divided into two parts—a flat upper light unit with four-point DRLs that emphasize the width of the car, while the main headlight module is positioned slightly lower in the front end. The characteristic Porsche flyline forms a unit with the flat rear window. The doors are now frameless resulting in a sleeker and sportier design. Strongly pronounced shoulders give the rear a muscular look with the Porsche crest sitting at the center of the 3D light strip.
The interior is unmistakably Porsche with the width emphasized by an integrated black panel. Though most interfaces are digital—including a free-standing curved instrument cluster and a center display—there are select analog control elements present such as the air conditioning controls. An LED light strip is integrated into the cockpit and doors and this acts as both ambient lighting and a communications light.
The current Macan will be sold alongside the second-generation compact SUV, based on the Porsche Philippines website. The combustion engine variant line-up, however, will be reduced to just two: the Macan and Macan T. Regardless, the move offers buyers the choice of whether they prefer gas or electric motivation in their premium compact SUV.
I wonder how much will Porsche Macan electric be sold for....
ReplyDeleteI wanna see the numbers of Macan gas vs. Macan electric.
