The Honda Civic Hybrid is the 2025 North American Car of the Year. The longest-running new-vehicle awards not associated with a single publication, the Civic Hybrid was judged by 50 automotive journalists from various outlets in the United States and Canada as the best car in North America.
Founded in 1994, the awards are intended to recognize the most outstanding new vehicles of the year. These vehicles are benchmarks in their segments based on factors including innovation, design, safety, handling, driver satisfaction, user experience, and value.
With a total of 205 votes, the Civic Hybrid came as the unanimous winner of the most prestigious automotive honor in North America. Jurors noted the electrified compact sedan for its “superb and fuel-efficient hybrid system” as well as being “fun, fuel-efficient, and more elegant than its predecessors.”
This marks the fourth time the Civic won the North American Car of the Year after winning it in 2006, 2016, and 2022.
Meanwhile, with 183 votes, the Ford Ranger is the North American Truck of the Year. Jurors noted it being have a “solid and refined chassis” as well as offering “plenty of utility plus an added dose of comfort and convenience.”
Finally, the Volkswagen ID. Buzz is the North American Utility Vehicle of the Year with 187 votes. Jurors says it is “an inspired Volkswagen design for the ages” while also offering “a decent range, space inside, lots of useful features, and being fun-to-drive.”
Honestly, there's no such thing as a hybrid and even Honda.
