Toyota Motor Philippines Introduces Updated Corolla Altis For 2025

As silent as its hybrid powertrain in electric mode, Toyota Motor Philippines quietly introduces the refreshed Corolla Altis for 2025. Like what we’ve seen for the Thai market, the latest version of the compact sedan gets both aesthetic and powertrain changes to greet the new year.

Now priced at P 1,755,000, (a bump of P 25,000) the 2025 Corolla Altis 1.8 GR-S swaps out its nickel-metal hydride battery for a lithium-ion one. Together with an increased battery size from 3.6 Ah to 4 Ah, this should result in much better fuel efficiency than before.

Battery aside, the rest of the powertrain remains unchanged. The 1.8-liter 2ZR-FXE Atkinson cycle still makes 98 horsepower and 142 Nm, while the electric motor still outputs 72 horsepower and 163 Nm. The combined output is still at 122 horsepower routed through an e-CVT that drives the front wheels.

The non-hybrid Corolla Altis GR Sport (1.8 GR Sport) continues for 2025 and now comes with a P 1,327,000 price tag (up P 25,000). This one continues with the same 1.8-liter normally aspirated motor with 140 horsepower and 172 Nm of torque.

Both the hybrid and non-hybrid GR Sport variants receive a retuned electric power steering system and specific springs, shocks, and stabilizer bar tuning.

Aesthetically, the front bumper has been changed to one that’s inspired by the GR Yaris, while at the back are clear-style blacked out taillights. A high-gloss black spoiler and 17-inch alloy wheels complete the changes. The hybrid variant also drops the “Hybrid” badge in favor of the Beyond Zero “HEV” badge.

Color-wise, the hybrid comes solely in Platinum White Pearl Mica, while the non-hybrid comes in Attitude Black Mica, Red Mica Metallic, and Metal Stream Metallic.

Inside, the 2025 Corolla Altis GR Sport receives a Gazoo Racing-badged steering wheel and added adjustable lumbar support to its power seats. The seat upholstery itself is now finished in leather and suede and have GR logos stitched on the headrests. The seatbelts are also now in red for a pop of color.

Other new features for 2025 include wireless Apple CarPlay (that complements the wireless charger). This is on top of full digital gauges, dual zone climate control, and a large infotainment touchscreen that serves as the display to the 360-degree camera.

The base Corolla Altis 1.8 E CVT has been retained for P 1,207,000—a price jump of P 72,000. This variant comes in three colors: Attitude Black Mica, Metal Stream Metallic, and Super White II. In terms of features, it remains unchanged with 16-inch alloy wheels, a rotary switch air conditioner, and a twist key ignition system.

  1. I honestly wonder why Toyota's front wheel driven cars just like the Corolla and Camry are rarely fitted with diesel engines.

    1. Diesels do not fit ESG goals, as far as passenger cars are concerned.

    2. Diesels are heavy. Sedans are made to be light and efficient.

    3. But older generation models used to have diesel engines for both Camry and corolla

  3. Another face-lift. When will the all-new model arrive? I hope it doesn't add more tech as more tech means less reliable.

  4. The 500k difference between hybrid and base model is a good 10years full tank worth of gas.
It will take 10 years for the hybrid to make an ROI.
And by that time, the hybrid battery is near the end of its lifecycle.
Hybrids dont really make sense.. nobody keeps and maintain a 10 to 12 year old car.

    1. The point with hybrids are, you are sending/screaming a message to people "hey! I drive a hybrid, I'm better than you!"

  5. The base trim gets a high price jump and they couldn’t be bothered to put at least a reverse camera?

  6. Remember, car is not an investment unless you're using it as an income generating asset (i.e., rentals). Hybrids are fuel efficient and has a lesser maintenance costs than traditional ICE cars due to its lesser moving parts.
