The Philippine Postal Corporation (PHLPost) has reduced the fuel price for its mail delivery fleet to nearly half of what it was in previous years. The move will greatly benefit the public in the form of continuous, affordable, and on-time delivery of mail and parcel.
Postmaster General Luis D. Carlos said that upon his assumption to office, he immediately noticed that the contracted fuel price was set at P 107 per liter.
“I immediately reviewed the contract and negotiated directly with the gasoline provider to reduce the cost,” he said. “We are happy to say that from P 107 per liter, we have reduced the price to an average of P 67 per liter.”
Lower price aside, PHLPost has also reduced the fleet’s overall operating cost by closely monitoring and controlling fuel expenses. They’ve done this by setting up spending limits and tracking spending patterns on fuel usage, fuel frequency, and even time of refueling.
“We have revised our contract with the supplier. Our vehicles now carry fleet cards and follow the market pump price. PHLPost now monitors the fuel consumption and imposes a limit of fuel in the fuel tanks. The mail vehicles now have fleet cards which are now bonded to their plate numbers,” he added.
Carlos also says that PHLPost no longer uses the oil depot located at the Central Mail Exchange Center (CMEC) motor pool in Pasay City. With the shift to fleet cards, drivers can easily load at any partner gasoline station eliminating a trip to the CMEC motor pool just to refuel.
“Gas prices are skyrocketing worldwide. We have to manage our resources and come up with a plan to minimize our expenses and implement good governance policies in terms of accountability, transparency and anti-corruption measures,” he concluded.
a case for graft should be filed for those involved in the said 107 per liter of diesel at Philpost. Sobrang garapal naman nyan.
ReplyDeleteP67/liter? For trucks? So diesel? Kumita pa din hahahaha
ReplyDeleteGood move but also go after those who approved the past contract. Even my 12year old kid can see the prices of gas and is nowhere near 107
ReplyDeleteWhy 107 per liter? Mas mahal pa sa pang average commuter. Ano ang gamit nila? Baka apple juice
