After launching the next-generation Tamaraw exclusively with the long wheelbase variant last year, Toyota Motor Philippines has now released the short wheelbase version of its light commercial vehicle as well.
The short wheelbase version of the Tamaraw comes in three variants:
- Tamaraw 2.0 Dropside – P 757,000
- Tamaraw 2.0 Aluminum Cargo – P 808,000
- Tamaraw 2.0 Utility Van – P 1,010,000
As mentioned, the sole engine is a gasoline engine. The 2.0-liter 1TR-RE makes 139 horsepower and 183 Nm of torque. In this guise, it makes 139 horsepower at 5,600 rpm and 183 Nm of torque at 4,000 rpm. The only gearbox is a 5-speed manual.
The short wheelbase version measures 2,750 mm between the front and rear wheels, with a bed length of 2,312 mm and a bed width of 1,711 mm. Payload ranges from 830 kilograms to 1,080 kilograms, depending on the variant. Its turning radius is a compact 4.9 to 5.4 meters.
Being more of the functional variants, the Tamaraw short wheelbase (SWB) has a modest set of equipment such as halogen headlights, material black-colored bumpers and grille, 195R14C steel wheels, bench-type seating with PVC material, and a 2-DIN audio system.

I'm envious that Thailand gets to have a fully loaded SWB package with a diesel to boot while we only get this.
