The Q6 e-tron is Audi’s first production model using the Premium Platform Electric. What it means is that it’s targeting to set the standards in both range and efficiency, as well as design, engineering, and user experience. This is the new chapter of mobility according to Audi.
Competing in the premium mid-size segment, the Audi Q6 e-tron complements Audi’s all-electric range. With generous dimensions and an expansive wheelbase, it offers plenty of space for five and their luggage.
Let’s take a look at the exterior. A further evolution of Audi’s e-tron design, it’s reminiscent of the Audi e-tron GT. The soft shapes are in constant play with the creases and edges, lending to a sense of dynamism.
At the front, the expansive Singleframe grille is inverted and closed—following the trend of other electric Audi models. While the front-end is certainly powerful, the expansive glass area and the “quattro blisters” make it stand out even more. The sporty stance is capped off by the short overhangs and long wheelbase. Remarkably, Audi has chosen to incorporate the battery’s location into its design. Realizing that this is the heart of any electric vehicle, it’s been highlighted by the side blades.
Stepping inside, the Audi Q6 e-tron marks the start of a new interior design philosophy. Materials were incorporated into the design at a very early stage of the development process. The high contrast elements are deliberate to create a 3D effect. But beyond traditional luxury elements, Audi also took technology into consideration creating this so-called Digital Stage.
This concept consists of three main screens: a full digital driver’s display, a center panoramic display, and even a passenger display. The center and passenger display now runs on Android Automotive OS. The passenger display, meanwhile even as a privacy filter allowing the front passenger to enjoy entertainment content without distracting the driver.
Other interior highlights include the Augmented Reality Heads Up Display, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone integration, the 16-speaker Bang & Olufsen Premium Sound system with 3D sound, and Audi Assistant.
The Audi Assistant controls numerous functions and recognizes more than 800 voice commands. The driver activates it by saying, “Hey Audi.” This means that several functions can be controlled as required. And thanks to AI support, it’s constantly learning and can be commanded with indirect or multi-intent commands.
Thanks to the new platform, the Q6 e-tron offers this generous feeling of space. This is most evident at the rear with a floor that’s free of a center tunnel. There are plenty of storage and stowage compartments around as well. At 526 liters, the cargo hold is large. Once the seats are folded down, it grows to an even larger 1,529 liters. The seats fold down in a three-way split for flexibility. Oh, and there’s even a frunk too allowing you to place smaller items like a small bag or even your charger cable.
On the road, the Audi Q6 e-tron Performance features a newly developed drive system with power and efficiency in mind.
The rear-mounted motor offers a total of 326 horsepower enough for a 0 to 100 kph time of 6.6 seconds. Its large battery means it can go up to 641 kilometers on a single charge—enough to travel from Manila to Aparri—the northern-most tip of Luzon or Manila to Matnog—the southern-most tip of Luzon with charge to spare.
And when you do need to charge, the 800-volt system means it can go from 10 to 80 percent charge in just 21 minutes. More clever than that, on charging stations that run on 400-volts, the Q6 e-tron is the first vehicle to offer bank charging essentially dividing the battery to two parts allowing it to charge simultaneously and then together.
Electric vehicles are often panned for their lack of emotion. That’s not the case with the Q6 e-tron. With clever engineering solutions, it’s agile, obedient, and in line with Audi’s premium DNA. The ride is the best of both worlds. The adaptive dampers provide either great riding comfort when driving over cobblestones, or better driving performance, say when tackling high-speed bends. It simply adapts to any given situation. The rear tires are also wider than the front for even more grip and driving dynamics.
Vorsprung durch Technik. It means, “Progress through Technology.” It’s more than just Audi’s slogan—it’s built into the DNA of every car they have ever built. With the Audi Q6 e-tron, it means setting the standards not just in range and efficiency, but also in design, engineering, and experience. Opening the next chapter of electric mobility for Audi, impressive craftsmanship and technology come together. More than anything, it makes making cutting-edge technology a tangible experience its drivers and users can experience every day.
