SMC Asia Car Distributors Corp, the official importer and distributor of BMW in the Philippines, has announced a special edition of the BMW 520i. Offering the essential luxury amenities and features, it also comes at a lower suggested retail price: P 3,990,000—a P 1-million less than the regular 520i and priced close to that of a 3 Series Touring or X1 (P 3,890,000).
Despite lower price, this limited-edition BMW 520i (Essential) doesn’t compromise on the BMW experience. It comes in four colors: Alpine White, Black Sapphire, Cape York Green, and Oxide Grey. Regardless of color, it offers LED headlights, 18-inch light alloy wheels, and Aluminum Satin Finish exterior trim as standard.
Like the regular 520i, it’s powered by a 2.0-liter BMW TwinPower Turbo gasoline engine equipped with a 48-volt Mild Hybrid Technology. Together, it delivers 208 horsepower and 330 Nm of torque. With an 8-speed automatic, 0 to 100 km/h is done in 7.5 seconds while top speed is at 230 km/h. Cruise control is standard issue.
Inside, the 520i Essential comes with perforated and quilted Veganza seats with electronic adjustment for the front passengers. It also has a four-zone climate control, automatic tailgate, and a Harman Kardon speaker system. Of course, at the heart of the experience is the BMW Widescreen display that integrates a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a 14.9-inch touchscreen display powered by the iDrive Operating System 8.5.
In terms of safety, not only does the 520i Essential come with a comprehensive suite of airbags, but it has the BMW Parking Assistant too.
Arriving in limited quantities, the BMW 520i Essential can be viewed at the RSA Motors display happening at the South Court of the Power Plant Mall in Rockwell from February 21 to 23, 10 AM to 9 PM.
