The current Subaru Crosstrek and soon-to-be-launched in the Philippines all-new Forester have been named as part of Consumer Reports’ 2025 Annual Top 10 Picks. It marks the second year both models made it to the list and the 12th consecutive year the Forester has earned the accolade.
Consumer Reports is a non-profit research, testing, and advocacy organization that works side by side with consumers to create a fairer, safer, and healthier world. For 80 years, CR has provided evidence-based product testing and ratings, rigorous research, investigative journalism, public education, and steadfast policy action on behalf of consumers’ interests.
In picking its Top 10 for 2025, these vehicles had to achieve exceptional results in road-test performance and safety. The publication also factored in predicted reliability and owner satisfaction. Plus, it must come equipped with low-speed automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection as well as highway-speed AEB.
The Subaru Crosstrek was selected by Consumer Reports as its sub-compact SUV entry, noting the comfortable ride, high ground clearance, and easy entry and exit. Completely redesigned for 2024, it replaced the XV nameplate globally, including markets such as the Philippines. Read our full review.
Meanwhile, for 12 consecutive years, the Subaru Forester has been selected as one of Consumer Reports Annual 10 Top Picks thanks to its utility, standard all-wheel drive, exceptional fuel economy, good outward visibility, and spacious interior. Completely redesigned for 2025, the new Subaru Forester kept to its winning formula, which helped it secure its results. It will soon be available with a strong hybrid system.
Aside from the awards these two models achieved, Consumer Reports also ranks Subaru as the best mainstream automotive brand and the most reliable automotive brand, with eight recommended models for 2025 including the Forester, Crosstrek, Outback, Ascent (Evoltis), BRZ, and WRX.
