Marking a new chapter in its more than 70-year history, the all-new Nissan Patrol is all about legacy, innovation, and luxury. The solitary variant for the Philippine market comes with a P 5,385,000 price tag with additional premiums for the three of four available exterior colors.
Measuring in at 5,350 mm in length, 2,115 mm in width, and 1,945 mm in height, there’s no other way to describe the all-new Patrol than being stately. Its distinctive boxy silhouette gives it a powerful glance. The bold presence features a wider, more pronounced V-motion grille with an integrated horizontal bar flanked by the new distinctive double-C headlamp design. Over to the side, the shoulder line gently rises from front to rear, while the blacked-out pillars create a floating roof effect. At the corner are machine-finished 20-inch alloy wheels with 275/60R20 tires. At the back, a full-length light bar accentuates the Patrol’s sense of power and prestige.
Four colors are available with Granite Black being the only color available at the starting SRP. Meanwhile, the Gun Metallic with Black Roof comes with a P 20,000 premium, while the Everest White comes with a P 30,000 premium. The Everest White with Black Roof is the priciest with a P 50,000 add on.
It wouldn’t be a Patrol without performance and for the “Y63,” out goes the V8 and in its place is the most powerful engine ever fitted to the name plate. The twin-turbo 3.5-liter V6 (VR35DDTT) produces 431 horsepower at 5,600 rpm and 700 Nm of torque. The outputs are higher than other markets because this one’s tuned to run on 98 octane gasoline. This is then mated to a 9-speed automatic with steering wheel-mounted shifter paddles and an intelligent 4WD system with two-speed transfer case (Auto, 4H, 4L).
Going back to the turbo motor, it has off-roading in mind thanks to technologies such as a high heat-resistant turbocharger, mirror bore coating, and even a scavenger oil pump to ensure consistent lubrication on slopes and inclines.
Together with the engine, the all-new Patrol gets a first-in-its-class Adaptive Air Suspension. This allows it to raise or drop its ride height making for easier entry or exit, or even improved off-roading and flood crossing capability. Also, e-dampers at all four corners help give it a wonderful, magic carpet ride. On the subject of ground clearance, it has 244 mm of it.
The all-new Patrol is the first Nissan model with a 4WD transfer mode interlock allowing it to switch between modes at any time. With that, drivers have a selection is six modes to choose from—Standard, Eco, Sport, Sand, Mud, Rock—to maximize not just traction, but also throttle sensitivity and even how the electric aids all behave.
These aids include not just the stability and traction control, but the rear differential lock system as well.
Inside, it’s all about solid dignity with the Patrol’s mix of craftsmanship and user-centric innovations.
It starts with the use of Damping Acoustic Glass for noise isolation. Then the seats are finished in quilted leather seats inspired by traditional Japanese wood craft called Kumiko. The standard interior color is Tan, but customers can also choose to go Burgundy or Beige, but they’re subject to a six-month order lead time.
The Patrol gets a 28.6-inch Monolith display with twin 14.3-inch displays. One acts as an instrument cluster, and another as the infotainment screen. At the center, Nissan has resisted the temptation of putting everything in the touchscreen, placing driving-related controls as clear physical buttons and knobs. The shifter, meanwhile, is the first Nissan model to adopt a Piano Button style arrangement.
The rear seats get dual 12.8-inch screens too with Miracast, HDMI, and USB inputs. Further elevating the auditory experience is a 12-speaker Klipsch audio system.
Other features in the Patrol include customizable ambient lighting, a panoramic sunroof, and the segment’s first Biometric Cooling technology. This uses a built-in infrared sensor to detect the body temperature of front and second row passengers, and automatically adjusts the climate control as needed.
When taking about interior room, Nissan has done their homework with the all-new Patrol. The first two rows come NASA-inspired spinal support tech with the front seats boasting eight-way power adjustment. Wherever you sit, it has improved interior space. Plus, it’s more clever too. You can access the third row without removing a child seat mounted to the second-row seats. Meanwhile, cargo room is also bigger than ever, and easier to use thanks to a power folding and reclining third row and a hands-free power tailgate.
In terms of safety tech, the all-new Patrol comes with increased Nissan Intelligent Mobility functions including a 360-degree camera with three new views: Invisible Hood View, Ultra-Wide Front View (170 degrees field of vision), and Rear Zoom View. A new body structure, constructed with increased use of high-strength steel, improves frontal crash and pedestrian protection.
Standard Nissan Connect Services telematics adds functions such as remote engine start/stop, remote lock/unlock, remote horn and lights, emergency SOS calling, automatic collision notification, car finder, vehicle health report, curfew alert, speed zone alert, and maintenance alert and reminder. These functions are all accessible via the Nissan Connect smartphone app.
The Patrol comes with a standard 5-year or 200,000-kilometer bumper-to-bumper warranty.
As their oldest nameplate, Nissan knows the reverence associated with the Patrol. With the introduction of the all-new, seventh-generation model, it brings in more performance, better fuel efficiency, as well as outstanding technology. No doubt about it, it’s a technical tour-de-force which will offer Filipinos a first-class ride regardless of their destination.

So this is basically not for some ordinary rich..
ReplyDeleteNissan isn't letting the LC300 have all the fun. TBH, this looks to be comprehensively equipped. My only nit is that air suspensions are historically prone to fail in cars so-equipped. If this proves to be reliable, it will really help bring Nissan back from the brink.
ReplyDeleteAirbag suspension will never be reliable. It's basically a rubber airbag in lieu of steel springs. How long do rubber airbags last? To give you an idea, it's made out of a material that has more in common with rubber tires, so we're talking 60,000 to 70,000kms, and will crack with time, whether you use it or not.
DeleteDoes the rich dont care if there is a guillotine hanging above nissan? Only time (or sales stats) will tell.....
ReplyDeletenice but expensive
ReplyDeleteNot bad as a 4th or so luxury car of our wealthy politicians.
ReplyDeleteLong shot but maybe nissan can also release a cheaper version with the base engine and less luxurious spec in the future in the 4m+ range
ReplyDeleteIn the UAE, they do have a parallel range of trims without the turbocharging and start at mid-3 million. I hope Nissan will make those available in the future for those with smaller budgets. That said, Toyota cancelled the lower trim LC300 in PH, but that one was not priced significantly less (for that demographic) leading customers to opt for the higher ZX trim.
DeleteThe Land Cruiser LC 300 is Provincial Rich(People from the provinces buy them more like Politicians and Businessmen from there) While this one seems to target the more the urban rich who are more likely to buy For Explorers/Expeditions or Chevy Suburban.
ReplyDeleteinteresting thing you noted. Never noticed that difference.
DeleteWhat is its fuel economy?
