A new chapter begins for the BMW X3. The brand’s best-selling model globally, the all-new “G45” lands in the Philippines with standard plug-in hybrid power.
The all-new BMW X3 sets the bar in the premium mid-sized segment when it comes to design. There’s a lot of focus on proportions with its crisp lines. It’s longer (4,755 mm) and wider (1,920 mm) than before, but shorter (1,660 mm) for a sporty look. Wheelbase remains close to its predecessor (2,865 mm).
Upfront, the large, upright BMW kidney grille has vertical and diagonally-arranged bars, and yes, it lights up thanks to the BMW Iconic Glow. Over to the corners are 20-inch M light-alloy wheels with mixed tire sizes and peering out Dark Blue M Sport brakes. At the back, there’s the extended roofline, flushed-mounted rear window, and a new interpretation of the T-shaped taillight cluster.
Inside, the X3 features M Veganza and Alcantara black upholstery as well as Fine-Brushed Aluminum trim. From there, the accoutrements become more modern with the flat-bottomed steering wheel, new-look gear selector, and a driver-focused cockpit with a heads-up display, large 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and 14.9-inch widescreen display.
The infotainment is powered by the latest iDrive Operating System 9. The latest iDrive Operating System 9 significantly reduces the number of physical buttons and controls, putting the focus firmly on touch and voice control. If you still prefer hard buttons, almost all vehicle functions are accessible via the center console. Meanwhile, audiophiles will love the 15-speaker Harman Kardon Surround sound system.
The additional space inside is complemented by luxury features such as roller sun blinds, a three-zone climate control, wireless charging tray, and more.
The X3 is also packed with technology.
It comes standard with the Driving Assistant Plus. Using sensors and cameras around the vehicle, it increases driver safety in the form of collision warnings; lane departure warning; rear collision prevention; exit warning; and even Active Cruise Control with Stop & Go.
When navigating spaces with poor visibility, the Parking Assistant Plus offers a 360-degree view helping drivers drive in or out.
Finally, ConnectedDrive Services allow owners to remotely control certain vehicle functions using the My BMW App, including a built-in dash cam function. It can also be used to update the X3 remotely using the Remote Software Upgrade feature.
The hallmark of every BMW is its everyday performance. As the creators of the Sport Activity Vehicle or SAV, the newest BMW X3 pushes that even further.
Joining the local BMW Plug-In Hybrid line-up, the all-new X3 delivers impressive performance. First up, you get a 2.0-liter TwinPower Turbo petrol engine joined to an electric motor. Outputs? 299 horsepower and 450 Nm of torque. This delivers a 0 to 100 km/h time of 6.2 seconds and a top speed of 215 km/h.
By itself, the electric motor generates 184 horsepower and 250 Nm of torque allowing the X3 30e XDrive M Sport to run up to 140 km/h on pure EV mode. And thanks to sizeable 19.7-kWh lithium-ion battery, the X3 can go up to 90 kilometers without consuming a single drop of gas.
As with other BMW models, the X3 comes with several driver-selectable modes. Here, they’re called My Modes.
Unlike your traditional hybrid, the BMW Plug-In Hybrid can be charged in two ways for the ultimate convenience. First, is via bundled home charger. Supporting up to 11 kW of AC charging, it can top the battery up in less than 3 hours. Second, is simply by driving it. The X3 intuitively keeps the battery at an optimal charge all the time; no need to fiddle around with modes or buttons. The TwinPower Turbo petrol engine is used as a generator to produce power that’s then stored in the lithium-ion battery. With a full charge and a full tank of gas, it’s got a range of more than 700 kilometers.
Beyond the impressive engine, the all-new X3 features a lower weight and increased rigidity. Couple that with widened tracks, it delivers agility, stability, and long-distance comfort. And with standard Adaptive Suspension it sharpens the agility of the BMW X3 while at the same time increasing its ride comfort.
The all-new BMW X3 30e xDrive M Sport comes n seven colors: Artic Race Blue Metallic, M Brooklyn Grey Metallic, Dune Gray Metallic, Sophisto Grey Metallic, Black Sapphire Metallic, Alpine White, and M Fire Red Metallic with a suggested retail price of P 4,790,000.
