BYD Is Targeting To Have More Dealers Than Toyota Around The Philippines By End 2025

Share this on:

BYD is targeting to overtake Toyota in the number of operational dealerships by the end of 2025. The world’s number one New Energy Vehicle brand, distributed in the Philippines by ACMobility, plans to have 77 operational dealerships by the end of the year. Currently they have 29. In contrast, Toyota Motor Philippines has 74 around the country.

“We are excited to see the continued growth of BYD in the Philippines as it expands its presence across the nation,” said Bob Palanca, Managing Director of BYD Cars Philippines. “Both ACMobility and BYD are committed to empowering Filipinos by providing access to innovative transportation solutions that support a sustainable, forward-thinking future.”

In the first four months of 2025 alone, BYD opened six new dealerships in Metro Manila and Southern Luzon.

BYD Manila Bay, managed by Iconic Dealership, Incorporated, the retail arm of ACMobility, is the latest BYD full-service facility to officially open its doors to the public. Sitting on 3,000 square meters of prime real estate at Aseana City in Parañaque, it is currently the Philippines’ largest BYD showroom and service center. It has two display floors able to accommodate 18 BYD electric vehicles. Along with 11 work bays in its second-floor service area, BYD Manila Bay will provide up to 8 AC and 2 DC fast chargers for use by BYD customers and the general public.

Meanwhile, BYD Batangas, a venture by Harmony Auto Philippines that also opened its BYD Commonwealth and BYD Fairview dealerships in January this year, is the fourth BYD facility after its Global City showroom and service center.

The BYD Chinatown facility, on the other hand, is the first-ever car dealership in the heart of Binondo, showcases BYD’s latest global design standards and offers display space for seven vehicles. It also features 10 service bays and charging options, including two AC chargers and one DC fast charger.

Meanwhile, BYD Alabang, located at One Prime Tower in Muntinlupa, spans 1,811.89 square meters over two floors, can display eight vehicles, and offers five service bays for sales, after-sales, and parts services.

The flurry of dealership openings also happened in Visayas with the inauguration of BYD Iloilo. The new facility, managed by Central EV Incorporated, is the city’s first-ever electric vehicle brand dealership. It features a nine-car display, six service bays, a 150 kW DC charger, and 22 kW AC chargers.

BYD also opened its dealership in Negros Occidental at Brgy. Zone 15, Talisay City. VCY Mobility Ventures manages BYD Negros, a 4,000-square-meter facility with nine service bays and a 100-kW solar installation. It provides various services, including general maintenance and charging support.

In Mindanao, BYD opened a new dealership in Cagayan de Oro, managed by Magnet Motors Corporation. The facility, located at KM3, Kauswagan National Highway, includes six service bays and a dedicated cafe for its customers. BYD Cagayan de Oro addresses the rising demand for eco-friendly vehicles.

The carmaker also broke ground on new dealerships in Baliwag, Carmona, and Dasmarinas, marking key steps in expanding its presence across the Philippines. Dasmarinas will feature three AC chargers and one DC fast charger, further enhancing the EV charging infrastructure landscape.

Last year, BYD collaborated with SEAelectric Philippines Inc., an affiliate of SeaOil Philippines for BYD La Union. The groundbreaking will soon introduce New Energy Vehicles to the northern Luzon countryside.

“We’re incredibly excited to open these new dealerships across the Philippines and bring the BYD brand closer to more Filipinos nationwide. This expansion allows us to showcase our innovative electric and hybrid vehicles to more regions, offering customers nationwide more opportunities to switch to electrified mobility,” adds Palanca.

“BYD has made significant strides in the local market,” said Aiffy Liu, Country Head of BYD Philippines. “Our recognition from Philippine media highlights our commitment to innovation and sustainable energy, reflecting Filipinos’ trust in us as a reliable, forward-thinking brand.”

  1. Unlike in china which has very good EV infra, EV wont fly here in ph. changan ph introduced much affordable and better looking products that directly compete with byd. Soon byd and EV's hype will die down, at least here in ph that has mediocre EV infra and has small NEV market

  2. those dealers are investing 100M+ for each dealership
This cost will be all turned over to customers with expensive services

  3. If they will overtake Toyota in number of dealerships this year, what are they going to sell? Toyota PH is selling almost a hundred versions/variant overall of its cars. I bet they will also overtake any brand in the number of dealerships closing within a couple of years. They don't even cater to class C buyers

  4. During geely and chery hype they put up many dealerships all over the county, then realities bite, sales forecast didnot went as planned. Byd maybe selling well in NCR and highly urbanized cities, but just like geely, chery, changan it wont sell well in provincial areas.

    1. You'd be suprised. The BYD dealership in Negros Occidental seems to be doing well. Between Bacolod and Talisay (where the dealership is) you see a lot of Sealions specifically, I've seen a fair number of EVs too since I work near the city center (which has chargers around a few places).

Other chinese brands seem to have healthy adoption too. The Geely Okavango specifically I remember going on this one work trip from Bacolod to a town 3 hours south (so very provincial) and I saw around 10 of these along the way that I had to make sure I wasn't seeing the same few cars. It's not a huge number and the japanese cars (plus ford) are still dominant but there is confidence building and the generally lower prices can be enough for people to take a chance on a purchase especially with the sight of seeing more of these cars on the road.

I will note that Bacolod has a bit of a reputation of having some people who like to buy the newest cars (I've seen an Ioniq 5 N around town) but it's not just the high end ones that are popping up, the affordable chinese cars seem popular with Class B and C families too.

    2. You should go out more. In Quezon, where the only public charging station is at SM Lucena (1 Type2 charger and 1 GBT charger), BYDs are everywhere (mostly SL6, but other models can be seen too).

    3. Bacolod is highly urbanized city, landcruisers a common sight in bacolod streets. Maybe its the hacienderos clan prides ego prestige.

    4. Yes, Bacolod is a highly urbanized city. But the point still stands na marami kang makikita na chinese cars na pang Class B and C on the road. If the hacienderos are still the ones buying THOSE cars imagine what that speaks about their quality hehe. But seriously, I work in a job that has taken me (regularly) to all 31 LGUs in Negros Occidental (that's not counting Bacolod City) and the increased presece of chinese cars around many LGUs in the province cannot be easily ignored.

  5. It’s a chicken and egg thing… many pinoys will see lots of dealerships as a good thing and will make them more confident to buy. On the other hand, it will be a lot harder to meet their sales quota since dealership growth isn’t organic.

  8. BYD is well accepted in Cebu. Around 1- 2 months waiting time for Sealion, Seagull, Atto3 and Shark 6. More than 60 prospective buyers of Sealion were promised with the delivery of their units by 1st week May. The pending units for shark 6 is more than 50 .

  9. BYD vehicles are competitively priced and easier to sell
Lots of Mitsubishi,Mazda,Suzuki,Hyundai and Nissan dealerships closed down due to poor sales of those dealerships

  10. Honda dealerships are converted into BYD car dealerships like what happened to Honda Cars Fairview and Honda Cars Manila Bay which are now BYD car dealerships
Honda Cars Manila is at risk of becoming a BYD car dealership too.

  11. Ganyan din geely, chery, changan noon sa umpisa malakas benta, nag put up marami dealerships, then after 2-3 years na may feedback na sa mga nauna bumili...bumagsak na sales.

    1. Complete opposite today ng ilang japanese brands which are now converting their branches to china cars like BYD. Either way you look at it, there will always be pros and cons. And advantage lang talaga ng china cars is they have deep pockets and some are govt subsidised pa.. so they can afford to compete kahit low sales nila..

    2. geely use to be famous and hi sale, nasira dahil sa isang pangit na viral comment (poor service at pending part) ng previous japanese distributor.
changan previous distributor is active in marketing until nag transfer to new distributor, who are more focus in his high price German and american car, not the chinese changan car.
Chery have many good feedback, hindi cya gaano benta, dahil maraming tao perception China car is bad at maraming China hater propaganda dito sa atin bansa.

    3. Marami propaganda vs china cars and marami rin propaganda pro china cars, especially mga car reviewers dito pinas, not all but many. Mas trusted ang OWNERS review ng china cars, wala bias and from time to time naga update.

  13. i trust byd battery, but still am not convince on its reliability, durability and engineering quality. SL6 owners already posting lots of quality issues. Just an obervation, The problems with china car brands are they are very fast on intrducing new models, sacrificing qualities. Haste makes waste

  14. If this materializes, then good for BYD and the consumers. I am looking forward to owning a BYD in the future. For now, I am enjoying my Chery Tiggo 8 Pro.
