GAC Motor Philippines, led by Astara Philippines, opened its 2025 Manila International Auto Show exhibit with the public debut of its flagship plug-in hybrid MPV, the M8 PHEV.
The M8 PHEV already draws attention with its bold styling, spacious interior, and now, its plug-in hybrid powertrain. Positioned for families and professionals seeking both luxury and efficiency, the M8 PHEV is expected to launch in the Philippine market by the third quarter of 2025, with a projected price below P 4.3-million.
“Introducing the M8 PHEV at MIAS marks an important step in our journey to bring more intelligent and sustainable mobility solutions to the Philippines,” said Luis Torres, Country Manager of Astara Philippines. “This model represents the kind of innovation GAC is now known for—smart, refined, and aligned with the needs of today’s Filipino drivers.”
Measuring in at 5,212 mm in length, 1,893 mm in width, and 1,823 mm in height, the M8 PHEV’s 3,070 mm wheelbase means generous seating for 7 passengers.
The M8 PHEV comes with a 2.0-liter turbo gasoline engine, which, by itself already makes 362 horsepower and 320 Nm of torque. Add to that, a strong electric motor mated to a Dedicated Hybrid Transmission (DHT) and the outputs rise to 367 horsepower and 630 Nm of torque. Fuel efficiency is rated at 17 km/L.
Replacing the conventionally-powered M8 in the local GAC Motor line-up, the M8 PHEV comes with the “Awakening Eye” LED headlight design, Lion Grille, and “Time Gate” taillights. Inside, it has a long list of creature comfort features including a 10-point massage seat on the second row.
GAC Motor’s MIAS booth also features a strong lineup of vehicles, including the GS3 Emzoom, Emkoo Hybrid, M6 Pro, GS8, and the newly previewed M8 PHEV. Test drives are available throughout the event for the GS3 Emzoom, Emkoo Hybrid, and M6 Pro, allowing guests to get a feel for the brand’s performance and features.
GAC Brand Ambassador Dingdong Dantes was also present during the opening day activities to show his support for the brand, while Mr. Wang Shunsheng, Vice President of GAC International, flew in to personally support the local team.
“The Manila International Auto Show is a great way for us to connect with Filipino customers and let them experience what GAC has to offer,” said Mr. Wang. “We’re confident in the market’s potential and will continue to bring in high-quality models that meet the needs of today’s drivers.”
