Set your calendars: Subaru is about to reveal the all-new Outback and a new EV SUV dubbed the Trailseeker.
Both slated for the 2026 model year, these two Subaru SUVs will be making their global debuts at the New York International Auto Show in a week’s time.
First up, the Outback. Finally detaching itself from its raised wagon look, the Outback will become a more upright, boxier model; in other words, it’ll become a full-blown SUV. With that, expect it to gain even more ground clearance and better off-road capability than ever before. It will likely get the WRX’s 2.4-liter turbocharged mill alongside the new-generation Subaru Hybrid system which is being rolled out in the Crosstrek and Forester.
The more interesting bit is this all-new EV SUV, the Trailseeker. At this point, Subaru’s keeping everything under wraps but the brand did say that New York will be the Trailseeker’s global debut. It’s confirmed to be another co-development with Toyota (as the Solterra is with the bZ4X), but it’ll likely be smaller. Some have indicated that it’ll be Forester or even Crosstrek-sized. Whatever segment it’ll be in, it’ll pack the same off-road capability and ground clearance Subaru’s known for these days.
