The 2026 Ranger Super Duty Is The Most Extreme Ford Ranger Variant Yet

Ford Motor Company might as well as call itself the “Ranger Motor Company” at this point as it introduces yet another new variation of its best-selling pickup truck. Just when you thought they could come up with every conceivable iteration from at least a dozen “regular” variants to the Ranger Raptor (in both diesel and gas) and a street-racing inspired version, they’ve come up with the Ranger Super Duty.

Inspired by Ford’s very own North American F-150 Super Duty trucks, the Ranger Super Duty reports in with wider fenders with squared off arches to cover the wider tracks and 33-inch all-terrain tires. Those tires are fitted on 18-inch wheels with an eight-lug pattern—just like its bigger American cousin.

The Ranger Super Duty’s exterior also receives a unique hood with a power dome, chamfered edges, and “Super Duty” stamped. The grille itself has a larger opening for increased cooling and a steel bumper that’s attached directly to the frame.

Ford has yet to reveal power and torque specifics, but the Ranger Super Duty does use the 3.0-liter turbo diesel V6 with revised temperature management. In the regular Ranger, this makes around 250 horsepower and 600 Nm of torque. The exhaust has also been recalibrated for heavy-duty emissions standards. For example, drivers can delay the automatic diesel particulate filter regeneration making this pickup truck suitable for use in high fire risk environments.

To ensure extended operation, it comes fitted with a 130-liter tank with a thick steel shielding. The same shielding is found on everything from the engine to the differential and transfer case, and transmission.

Apart from the engine, Ford’s also beefed up the four-wheel drive system. By default, it comes with automatic 4WD, but the revised axles, low-range gear set, front (borrowed from the Bronco Raptor) and rear lockers ensures enhanced off-road performance.

Built for extreme payloads, the Ranger Super Duty’s gross vehicle mass jumps up to 4,500 kilograms (from 3,500 kilograms in the regular Ranger) offering 4,500 kilograms of maximum braked towing and 8,000 kilograms of combined mass. And with that in mind, it debuts a Smart Tow Hitch and Onboard Scales that help drivers adjust their trailer load and monitor payload via the center screen.

Inside, the Ranger Super Duty is pretty much the standard Ranger down to the 12-inch portrait style SYNC screen. Few of the specific model cues here are the words, “SUPER DUTY” embossed on the passenger side of the dashboard and the Integrated Device Mounting System which allows for the fitment of devices weighing up to four kilograms.

As for safety and driver assist, it gets the Ranger’s set including autonomous emergency braking, blind spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert, reverse automatic braking and a 360-degree camera system.

Ford has confirmed that the Ranger Super Duty is heading to the Australia and New Zealand markets first with bookings to open later in the year and customer delivers to commence in early 2026. It will also be going global with Thailand also confirmed to get it.

  1. GVW at 4500kg makes it a light truck. Will it be banned in truck ban areas?
