The Mitsubishi Triton Is The Pick-Up Truck For Every Occasion

Share this on:

Pick-up trucks are expected to be one thing and one thing only – a highly-capable, function piece of automotive ingenuity that is designed to be a hauler and rough-rider. In the case of the Philippines, pick-ups are known to be the go-to for industries like construction and developers. On the flipside, pick-ups have also become the foundational base for overlanding and off-roading rigs, further fueling the passions of outdoor adventurers and a new generation of campers.

Mitsubishi, however, begs to differ with the all-new Triton. Built from the award-winning formula of the previous bestselling Strada, the Triton is made for what we like to call, functional lifestyle. While most other pick-ups harp on workhorse capabilities alone, the Triton prides itself in being the truck that performs and delivers much like an SUV on steroids – you get the same comfort, driveability, and maneuverability of a daily driver, complemented by the endurance and reliability of a utility truck.

Sporty, rugged aesthetic

This modern-day pick-up truck is a design stand out. Its award-winning design starts out with a Dynamic Shield face that is reminisce of the classic Mitsubishi SUV look that sits high and prominent, giving it a proud, athletic structure. Adding to the sporty nature of the Triton are 18-inch black alloy wheels and multi-projector headlights. This is complemented by sculpted fenders and a wide track, as well as the geometric design of the multi-projector LED headlights.

Generous interior room

Made for multi-passenger travel in mind, Mitsubishi paid close attention to how the interior space would be able to accommodate families or small groups – and comfortably. The Horizontal Axis Geometry design offered generous seating space from shoulder to knee, whether you are a front passenger or sitting in the rear bench. The power seats are padded and covered in either synthetic leather with a quilted suede knit insert, or fabric, depending on the variant.

In addition, it provides solutions for transporting cargo, which includes an upper glovebox and a floor console box.

Functional in-car technology

For the modern-day driver, in-car tech can make or break a vehicle. With car owners being more self-aware with safety measure while driving, it is now a standard to have hands-free access to features like navigation, connectivity, and entertainment. The all-new Triton is equipped with a touchscreen display (either 9-inches or 8-inches) that is integrated with local AM/FM radio, hands-free Bluetooth technology, Type-A and Type-C charging ports, and of course, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, depending on the variant.

In addition, it is fitted with a 7-inch color LCD instrument cluster display and fully automatic climate control system, in either dual or single zone.

Unbeatable performance

By the numbers, the all-new Triton features an all-new two-stage 2.4-liter clean diesel engine with a 6-speed automatic transmission, producing up to 204 horsepower and 470 Nm of torque. Despite its 2,442cc displacement, it can carry up to a maximum of 1,115-kilograms of payload.

The all-new Mitsubishi Triton is engineered for the real-world, making it a pick-up that is worthy of the city street and the offroad trail. Its longer wheelbase favors the front-end and the redesigned suspension features a lightweight leaf springs and a longer suspension rebound. This improves the level of riding comfort, especially when put to the test on uneven and bumpy road conditions.

The standout Active Yaw Control feature also improves vehicle response during cornering and when approaching sudden turns. This is particularly significant for heavier-structured vehicles like the Triton that have a wider turning radius that may become uncontrollable at unexpected corners.

The all-new Mitsubishi Triton is the pick-up truck that is made for everyone. It combines features that are designed for function, but also takes into account the practicality of use for daily driving. In this regard, it packs the kind of easy maneuverability that is perfect for the regular driver and for moving families to and from locations, making it the all-around vehicle for both in-city and off-road transport.
