Review: 2023 Mazda BT-50 4x2 Black Edition
When it comes to the Mazda BT-50, all the attention is focused on the top-of-the-line 3.0 4x4; and rightfully so. Priced at P 1.790-million, it’s an often-overlooked choice in the pickup truck segment. Not only does it offer competitive specs vis-à-vis its price tag, it also comes with one of the country’s best ownership packages (a 5-year free service plan, in case you didn’t know). Go a step down, however, and things aren’t so shiny anymore.

Out Of My Comfort Zone: Taking The Mazda BT-50 Camping And (Sort Of) Loving It
Try something new, for once—that’s the sort of inspirational content your Gen Z friends share on Facebook, second only to your tita and her daily Bible quote. While that makes for a great excuse to spend their life savings on “experiences,” not even a GIF of Morgan Freeman or Daenerys Targaryen staring stoically will convince me. I’m a man of routine, and that doesn’t bother me at all.

Review: 2023 Mazda BT-50 Pangolin Edition II
Ask a 7-year old kid to name a truck, and chances are they’d come up with something that sounds like a character from Mad Max. You could get names like Rictus Erectus, Furiosa, and Mudguts—yes, these are actual Mad Max characters. And then, there’s the Mazda BT-50 Pangolin. The what, you ask? The pangolin. The scaly anteater with poor vision, no teeth, and rolls up when threatened. It doesn’t jive with the oh-so-common rough and tough branding associated with pickups, and it sort of tells you where Mazda’s going with here.

Review: 2022 Mazda BT-50 4x4
The nameplate may not enjoy the same recall as its competitors, but the Mazda B-Series has had a very long history—one that dates back all the way to 1961. This makes its lineage one of the longest in the pickup truck segment predating the Toyota Hilux (1968), Mitsubishi L200 (1978), Ford Ranger (1983), and Nissan Navara (1985). Now, one could argue that the reason why it hasn’t been a household name is that it was made by three different companies throughout its 61-year history.
